I got into rock music when I was in school and have listened to it ever since. Here are a few of my favourites probably in alphabetical order by artist.

1. Who made who - ACDC

One of the biggest names of Rock in the 80s.  Who can forget Angus Young dancing around in his school uniform.  There are many many songs of theres which are very good but am trying to constrain myself to one.  I like Who made who because of the drum rhythm backing the song combined with the groups high pitched singers singing style.

2. Love in an Elevator - Aerosmith

Another giant of stadium rock.  For a band almost ravaged by years of drink and drug abuse they have had a spectacularly long career churning out hits across the decades.  Again many many brilliant songs from Sweet Emotion to Don't want to miss a thing.  Love in an Elevator was written when someone bet them that they couldn't write a song with elevator in it.  I like the song mainly for its cheeky lyrics, 'Love in an elevator Loving it up when I'm going down'.

3. Living on a prayer - Bon Jovi

Another group that gets better and better.  Again many songs that are excellent.  Living on a prayer was on of the first somgs of theirs that I heard and hence will remain a favourite.

4. I don't like Mondays - The Boomtown Rats

A song that tells a story of someone going postal and shooting most of their class.  Sums up Monday mornings perfectly in the line 'Tell me why I don't like Monday'.  A favourite when I was in school.

5. Gone - Bryan Adams & Mel C

A very preppy rock duet and a nice fun song which is upbeat and pleasant to listen to.

6. Romeo & Juliet - Dire straits

Again Dire Straits have many many good songs but this one is my favourite.  I really like the use of acoustic background guitars and the lyrics which are really amazing. 'I can't do the talk like the talk on the tv, and I can't do a love song like the way its meant to be, I can't do everything but I'd do anything for you, can't do anything except be in love with you.'

7. Midlife Crisis - Fath No More

Inventive drum solos and nice singing style by the lead vocalist make this one a favourite of mine.

8. Sweet Child of Mine - Guns N'Roses

Again many nice songs but this one stands out due to the amazing guitars and https://lyrics.

9. The Number of the Beast - Iron Maiden

What can I say about this group absolutely brilliant.  All of their songs are masterpieces and as the band they have produced very listenable very heavy metal.  This song takes its inspiration from the book of revelations and the heavy guitars and drums do it for me everytime.

10. Breaking the Law - Judas Priest

This was one of the first bands I ever listened to and will always be favourites of mine.  Breaking the Law is one of their best songs with its blend of heavy guitars and drums but very singable https://lyrics.

11. Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf

Very few people can beat Meatloaf for his singing style and his sense of production. Each song of his is a story and production in its own right and every video of his backs this up.  Bat out of Hell is one of his most popular songs and tells the story of a road accident caused by someone speeding.  One of my favourites too.

12. One - Metallica

A band that in my mind defines heavy metal. One tells the story of a man made tetraplegic in the vietnam war and the song perfectly encapsulates his feelings of wanting to end the life that he has been sentenced to.  Very moving https://lyrics.

13. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana

Who knows what he could have done if he was still alive. The song has an amazing ability to switch pace and rhythm and was a favourite of mine during my college years.

14. Bark at the Moon - Ozzy Osbourne

Another man who has withstood extreme ravages of drink and drug abuse.  Ozzy was the sublime singer of Black Sabbath before he went Solo and had a string of hits.  Bark at the Moon symbolises Ozzy's mix of hard guitars and pure madness.

15. Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen

Pure Genius.  This song goes from the very lryical to opera and ends with gorgeous guitar rifts.  deservedly one of the best songs of all time.

16. Temple of Love - Sisters of Mercy

This was my only outing into the more gothic style of the above band.  This song has an amazing tune with dark lyrics offset by the sounds of Ofra Haza.

17.  Come Dancing - The Kinks

A nice little ditty about the local dancehall from the band who gave us Lola.

18. With or Without You - U2

I'm not a big fan of U2 but the lyrics of this song really make it stand out.

19. Every little thing she does is magic - The Police

A nice little tune from a band that have given us mant great songs.  This is quite an upbeat song with some lovely https://lyrics.

20. Legs - ZZ Top

One of my all time favourite songs.  ZZ Top are well known for their very american almost country rock with awesome guitars.  They also have some songs with some very cheeky https://lyrics.  Legs is one of their best  with an excellent video too.
