The jarring guitars sounding truly'Heavy Metal' and the drums roaring so loud that the speaker papers on the woofers may come undone anytime. This is the speciality of some really amazing Rock songs. Now, with so many artistes around and so many genres of Rock, it takes a lot of patience to rank and rate these songs.

What follows below is my set of 20 songs taken from a variety of artistes and genres. These songs are not in any order. Please dont take the number for their ranks. These are the twenty best songs.

  1. Nothing Else Matters - Metallica** Arguably, this is the undisputed winner of Progressive Rock. For that matter, any rock lover will listen to this song over and again. Especially, with the number of covers for this one by many other troupes including Apocalyptica(for cello)

  1. Top Gun Theme - Joe Satriani & Van Halen** Have you heard of this away from the movie just as a song? The fingers move so fast that the music will leave your ears reeling, just to know how many tones were used for any particular second. Rock at its best

  1. Sweet Child Of Mine - Guns N' Roses All time best from Guns N' Roses. Not to forget the explicit guitar show which grips you towards the end of the track. Slash at his best.  I just cannot stop listening to this song

  2. Dance Of The Dead - Iron Maiden The awesome Maiden troupe gets this number top rank from me'coz this shows some awesome kick-a$ kind of Progressive rock. When the pitch goes high or low, you'll never even know

  3. Hotel California - Eagles** One song which is forgotten by many. But one has to remember that this song was the one that pulled people like Metallica back to good old progressive rock music. Eagles were the only hit after Joe Satriani and Metallica in this aspect.

6. Holiday - Scorpions Like most best songs from a band, this is one song which no one can ever dare to say, "ENOUGH". Basically, the number of versions on this song is so much that it is one of the best by this band. Some soothing classic grunge for your ears.

7. 7 Nation Army - White Stripes Focussed mainly on Bass guitar, this has a very sweet tune and the going gets hard when slowly lead guitars start shadowing the Bass and the drums go'Volume Up'. Must listen to

  1. Feeling Way Too Good - Nickelback** From the album, The Long Road, this song is one amazing number by metal legend Nickelback. I would say this can always form a part of a good wide metal collection.

  1. Higher - Creed** Another good example of slow Rock. I think Creed didn't succeed because of their classic and slow rock focus. Had they also brought out some amount of hard rock and heavy metal, they would have really been one of the top hot shots

  1. Another Brick in The Wall - Pink Floyd** An Air Show followed by some British rock. Pink Floyd has always been of massive fame and this song is a perfect example to show why. All good metal lovers will have heard this song at least once.

  1. Ich Will - Rammstein** A nice music system with powerful woofers/sub-woofers will tell you why this song is one of the best Rock songs. Amazing bass and real jarring means that Rammstein has succeeded in this german Hard Rock number.

12. Sleepwalker - Megadeth Heard of Megadeth's Death/Thrash metal? Well, then listen to this one. This is none of their business as-usual. Dave Mustaine is stunning in this show. And Megadeth seems to have progressed from "Oh No!" to "Oh Wow!". I mean, there have been stunning numbers before from them, but this is one awesome one, beats other numbers.*

  1. In The End - Linkin Park** Who doesn't know of this song? Linkin Park has really ROCK'ed here when this song was also used to depict the WRC life. Almost all nights in any Bangalore pub, this song is an omni-present one.

  1. Policia-Titas - Sepultura Shortest Rock song I have heard ever at approx 1:20 seconds. Igor Cavelera is simply stunning in this and adding spice to this song his Max. The voice is simply roaring and you can listen to this any number of times if you heard it once.

  2. Midnight - Joe Satriani** If u need a pure Mexican guitar, then this short but magnificently fast track will give u just that. Starting off with a medium pace, this song suddenly jumps to hi-speed guitar and slows down towards the end. One really must have.

  1. Breaking The Law - Judas Priest** A classic work of Judas priest, this song is a part of the album Metal Works which was yet another classic of Judas. Hard Rock, but simply has an involving type of music. Don't confuse Judas' voice to Maiden's. They are quite similar and hence the cover for Judas by Maiden.

  1. Man Who Sold the World - Nirvana Nirvana is one of those legendary troupes who simply gripped the world with their MTV unplugged performance. And this song is the main feature of that album. I mean, over and again, Nirvana prove why they are so famous.

  2. Riders On The Storm - The Doors** Perfect number to describe acid rock. Rain and slow guitars, no bass guitars and mild drums. This song is one of their all time hits. The Doors did not bring out any song to compete with this.

19. Dreamer - Ozzy Osbourne Ozzy is one of them troupes who are usually slow and soft in rock. But it is a pleasure to listen to these guys. Always. Dreamer is such a melodious song in a way that you would sleep off listening to this song. Lyrics are meant to be heard and understood.*

  1. Hero Of The Day - Metallica** One of their very best. In any moment, this song simply soothes your mind. Must listen track.

Especially the one recorded in Symphony & Metallica. Simply a glorious proposition.

And finally, the CHORUS. Please leave your comment and rate this review. That would help. It wont take much time all in all:D
