I have to confess, this is a thrill for me. Thinking of all those great songs. It is actually making me feel younger!(although, 42 isn't that old, is it?) I have so many songs I cherish for one reason or the other. I have managed to narrow it down to twenty.
NUMBER ONE: 'Free Bird', by Lynyrd Skynyrd. How I love this Southern Classic. And if anyone else is a fan, I'm sure this would rate high with you too. All age groups love this song. I want to flick my bic when I hear it.
NUMBER TWO: 'Hotel California', by the Eagles. Everything The Eagles release, together or individually, is great. I have always loved their music, but not until I saw them in concert did I consider them as my number two favorite of all time.
NUMBER THREE: 'An American Band', by Grand Funk Railroad. The music in this song always gives me thrills. I especially like the percussion.
NUMBER FOUR: 'Night Moves', by Bob Segar. I like this song better now than ever before. The words have a different meaning, now that I am older. So true do they ring.
NUMBER FIVE: 'Celebrate', by Kool and the Gang. If you need a lift, this one will do it. I remember hearing it the night I was awarded a scholarship to school. It always puts me in a happy disposition.
NUMBER SIX: 'Taking Care of Business', by BTO. If you love rock, you love this.
NUMBER SEVEN: 'Green Grass and High Tides', by The Outlaws. Another classic, for me anyway. A lot of music. The words are few but meaningful.
NUMBER EIGHT: 'Holy Water', by Bad Company. Bad Company is the best thing since aspirin. Brings back a lot of feelings from my past, before maturity set in. I capture those feelings whenever I can.
NUMBER NINE: '1999', by Prince. He is such a sexy little thing. I love to listen to his music and watch him as he sings. Man, I wish I could move like that.
NUMBER TEN: 'Satisfaction', by The Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones, need I say more?
NUMBER ELEVEN: 'Sexual Healing', by Marvin Gay. This one is a very romantic soulful song. If you want to impress the spouse on your honeymoon, this would be a good start.
You could impress anyone, anytime with this sound.
NUMBER TWELVE: 'You Can Leave Your Hat On', by Tom Jones. Same as number eleven. Romantic, sensual, erotic. This one was played in a couple of movies I liked. 'The Full Monty' and'Nine and a Half Weeks'. Very good indeed, when you feel romantic.
NUMBER THIRTEEN: 'Going Down for the Last Time', by Head East. Great rock and roll. It is a song to sing with.
NUMBER FOURTEEN: 'Dust in the Wind', by Kansas. The lyrics are beautiful, and the music is soft, but with a shot of rock and roll. Even if you were not a teenager in 1977, you will still appreciate this song.
NUMBER FIFTEEN:'Landslide', by Stevie Nix. Her voice is beautiful. The words are sad. I always cry and nod my head in agreement, even if they don't make sense.
NUMBER SIXTEEN: 'Respect', by Aretha Franklin. You go girl! She tells it like it is. An inspiration for all women. I can't believe I ranked it this low! I sing this in the shower every morning!
NUMBER SEVENTEEN: 'Back in Black', by ACDC. I love all of their songs, this one is long on rock and wide on roll. If you love it loud, you will love this one forever.
NUMBER EIGHTEEN: 'Warning', by Green Day. My teenage son enlightened me about this song. Hear it with the video, you will laugh until you hurt.
NUMBER NINETEEN: 'Papa Don't Preach', by Madonna. In her very unique way, she sings of teen pregnancy. I love everything she releases. Brittany and Christina will never reach her level of artistic achievement. I hope I did not offend anyone. You see, I connect with her because she is forty something, like me.
NUMBER TWENTY: 'Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain', by Willie Nelson. This mature cowboy has my heart. The song is a sad one, so if you are like me, grab a hanky. It has sentimental value to me.( My dad had blue eyes). Even so, if you like soft country rock, you are going to appreciate this one too.
