When it comes to music, I almost always have something to write about. And it seems that this fascination with music is only getting addictive by the day. My 12 year journey through the downtown streets and highways of music can be described in two apt words.Destination: Anywhere! So long there is music, i'm ready to go anywhere.

And yeah, the white man has always been with me, his soul that is. Like a faithful follower and companion, throughout my long journey. And yet, a journey that seems only just begun.

I remember the last time I wrote about the'twenty best english songs', I had many people tellin' me that they never ever heard of the songs. I agree that you wouldn't really get to hear those songs everyday on MTV or the ever faithful radioFM but yet, their impressions on the musical history are so deeply ingrained that they can not be easily wiped out. And that would be an understatement! Just check around the net, I can assure you that you'll find them in almost all the countdowns for the world's best.they are that good. I have to agree that collecting all those songs over the years was a real pain in the you know where.as you wouldnt find them all at a single place. But that was a fruitful effort.

So far so good.those songs were my favorites but I guess, I need to do more of a community service.so this time I pick up the'all time most popular mixed songs'.The best ones first.

1.Europe: The Final Countdown

This song is one of the greatest anthems of the 80s. And it still sounds so very fresh. One of europe's most famous songs and rightly so.

2.Queen: We will rock you

Queen was one of the most successful bands in the 80s and gave so many hits like We are the champions, bohemian rhapsody, i want to break free, radio gaga, we will rock you etc. This particular song was covered by the pop band'Five' with queen's remaining band members. But still, the original is my pick.

3.Bryan adams: Summer of 69

This song coming from Bryan Adams' album, So far so good was, for a long time, remembered as his signature song. It best depicted the story of the band and the  things they did.'Those were the best days of my life.'!Sure, it'll remind you of your college days.

4.Police: Every breath you take

Back then, when Sting used to be a member of the band, Police, this song shot them to fame. It still is remembered as the best song to come from the Police.

5.Bon Jovi: Keep the faith

After the band split in the beginning of 90s for a brief period, this was their comeback album. Bon jovi has been called the most successful bands around and quiet rightfully so, after all they have been around for 21 years and still rocking. This song was one of their biggest hits of all times.

6.Metallica: Nothing else matters

One of the mellowest songs to come from the metallica stable.though they have been called the greatest metal bands of all times, this song comes from their hit self titled album often called the'Black' album. Other big hit from the same album include'Enter sandman', 'Sad but true' and'The unforgiven'.

7.Pink Floyd: Another brick in the wall 1, 2

They are the kings of psychedelic rock. The wall was one of their best seller albums. And this particular song was a big hit. The whole album is amazing.Check it out.

8.U2: Where the streets have no name

This song is my U2 favorite. But in their long illustrous history, they have given many hits including With or without you, desire, the one, pride, new years day, where the streets. etc.

9.Bruce Springsteen: Born in the USA

This song may be a pride for a US citizen but nevertheless as a song is quiet good and one of the biggest hits from THE BOSS! Other hits include human touch, dancin in the dark, streets of philadelphia etc.

10.Wham(George Michael): Careless Whisper

Probably you know a lot about this song already. Its one of the biggest hits of Wham and comes along with so many others including'Last christmas' and everything she wants etc.

11.Eagles: Hotel California

The eagles are one of the best country rock bands of yore and this song is one of their best creations along with desperado, doolin dalton, peaceful easy feelin, etc.

12.Stevie wonder: I just called to say I love you

Though a blind man since his birth, stevie wonder is a gem of a singer and has many hits to his credit. But this remains the biggest of all hits.

13.Aerosmith: I dont wanna miss a thing

Okay, I picked this up because it was a popular 20 list. Otherwise I would have liked to see dream on, crazy, pink etc. in this list as well.

14.Pearl Jam: Jeremy

They are one of the better known grunge bands like nirvana and soundgarden and this song if one of their best along with last kiss, daughter etc.

15.Billy Joel: We didnt start the fire

Filled with political humour, this song is one of Billy joel's biggest hits along with Uptown girl, the river of dreams, just the way you are etc.

16.Michael Jackson: Black or white

One of the biggest hits from the poor black boy turned into a rich woman! Man, dunno whats wrong with this guy but his music sure rocked.Atleast the ones from 80s. Good albums include bad, dangerous, thriller etc.

17.Lionel Ritchie: Hello

This is one of the best love ballads of all times. One of lionel ritchie's biggest hits. Slow and mellow, just how its meant to be.You'd probably be sleeping in a cave if you havent heard this one.!

18.Meatloaf: I'll do anything for love but I won't do that

Okies, this is again one of the best heart wrenching ballads of all times. Meat loaf won a grammy for this song from bat out of hell 2. Meatloaf's other hits include bat out of hell etc.

19.Duran duran: Come undone

Probably one of the biggest hits from the brit band, Duran duran. It is not the only one though. They have many hits to their name like ordinary world, rio, save a prayer, wild boys etc.

20.Berlin: Take my breath away

The TOpgun movie OST, this is one of the biggest hits of the lesser known band, Berlin.Other notable hits include the metro and no more words.

So that completes my top 20 popular songs list but its not complete without the worthy mention of these songs.
