If you Love somebody - Show it, tell it, speak out, be heard, express. Love is the wonderful gift that all of us share. Many a times I wonder do animals also have some language to express their love, may be licking or kicking each other is their mode of expression or do they also have some equivalent to the three-word sentence. Love, fondness, affection, likeness, adoration, passion, admiration, attraction are some of the many feelings that we all come across in our passage of life. Sometime or the other all of us have to express our love to others. Sometimes it is simple sometimes it is tough. Sometimes it is little words that tell the world about our heart felt and otherwise it's our expressions, attitude, behaviour that speak out and we don't have to make us be heard.

The expressions of love have been for ages the inspiration for poets, writers, novelist, artists and rest. Love has been inscribed in poems, songs, literature and other forms of art - Romeo Juliet or Heer Ranjha are just a couple to cite. I have just tried to compile a handful of such wonderful expressions and have clubbed them in groups.

Unlike English, in Indian languages especially the ones off shooting from Sanskrit have different modes of addressing a person with respect to formal or informal showing ones closeness to the addressee. Like 'tu', 'tum' or'aap', the English equivalent for each of these is simply'you'. So'I love you' can be expressed in any of the three Indian counterparts of'you'.

'Tu' the most informal reciprocates a sense of belonging and possessiveness, where the person addressing considers the addressee as a part of him or her. Some expressions in this mode -

*1. Tujhe jeevan ki dore se bandh liya hai.

  1. Tu tu hai wohi dil ne jise apna kaha.

  2. Tu jo mere sur mein sur mila le, sang ga le.*

Tere mere sapne sab ek rang hain jahan bhi ho jaye .

'Tum' the most common mode of addressing, the most expressed mode shows a sense of equilibrium between the two. An impression of togetherness and attachment is linked to this mode. Some of the most sought after numbers of love are written and sung in this mode -

*1. Tumko dekha to yeh khayal aaya, ki zindagi dhoop tum Ghana saaya.

  1. Tum bin jaayun kahan, tum bin jaayun kahan, ki duniya mein aake.

  2. Ab to hai tumse har khushi apni, tumpe marna hai zindagi apni.*

'Tumse milke aisa laga tumse milke, armaan huye pure dilke.'

'Aap' the last and the formal mode of addressing among the three, gives an impression of devotion, respect, adoration and admiration for the person you love. Some gems from this mode of expression -

*1. Aapki nazron ne samjha, pyaar ke kabil mujhe, dil ki yeh dhadkan thahar ja.

  1. Aap ke aankhon mein kuchh, mehke huye se khwab hain, aap se bhi khoobsurat.*

Apart from the modes of addressing, love is expressed in comparison to the elements of nature. Love sees no boundaries of language or culture or sect, may be that's why in east or west persons in love have expressed their admiration for their beloveds and have compared them flowers, moon, sunrise or sunset, sea, rain, water and many other elements of nature. These expressions have been beautifully knit in lyrics and sung for ages. Some songs where love is expressed through moon -

*1. Chaundvi ka chand ho, ya aaftab ho, jo bhi ho khuda ki kasam laajawab ho.

  1. Yeh chand sa roshan chehra, zulfon ka rang sunehra, yeh jheel si neeli aankhen

  2. Chanda dekhe chanda, to yeh chanda sharmaye*

It is said that when you are deeply in love you are madly in love. Love leads to an uncontrollable feeling, an addiction that cannot be calmed with ease. If people go crazy then why at all fall in love but still we fall a declining motion, the motion of love. Love makes us see things, as never before, the not so beautiful things also seems to be beautiful -

*1. Chandan sa badan chanchal chitwan dheere se tera yeh muskana, mujhe dosh na dena duniya walo ho jaayun agar main diwana

  1. Pehla nasha, pehla umang, naya pyaar hai, naya intzaar.

  2. Diwana hua badal, sawan ki ghata chhayee, yeh dekh ke dil jhuma.*

Diwana mastana hua dil, jane kahan hoke bahar aayee

Seasons, weather, climate and locales play an important role in love. Beautiful environment always play a catalyst to express your heart felt. Among the hills or mountains, near the sea, or lakes, in beautiful gardens love blooms. No wonders our film industry spends crores on song picturizations, even though the entire film may be shot in a shabby locality but a dream sequence song has to be introduced among the Alps in Switzerland. Some lovely songs where love is expressed through the words of monsoon or rains -

*1. Rim jhim gire sawan, sulagh sulagh jaye mann, bhige aaj iss mausam mein.

  1. O sajna, barkha bahar aayee, ras ki phuhaar layi, ankhiyon mein pyaar layi.

  2. Lagi aaj sawan ki phir wo jhari hai, wohi aag seene mein phir jal padhi hai.*

It's the heart where all the turmoil takes place and the heart and mind are ruled by love. The little organism that pumps blood for our body, the rhythmic beats tells us that we are alive, when in love the same heart beats for someone special -

*1. My heart is beating, keeps on repeating, I am waiting for you.

  1. Chhookar mere mann ko kiya tumne jo ishara.

  2. Dil ne kaha chupke se, pyaar hua chupke se *

A list of some of my many favorite love songs is already done but this list can't be complete without the mention of a negation in love, heartbreak or a separation. It's not always that the love we feel for others is reciprocated back. At times situations and time lead to a heartbreak and love that is not successful. Who's to be blamed, may be the mode of expression was not correct or may be it was not the right time or worse may be not the right person. But these situations many a times lead to separations and miseries in life. The lovely songs that express love are outnumbered by the songs that express the reverse that's separations. Some elegantly crafted songs expressing separation are -

*1. Jaane who kaise log the jinke pyaar ko pyaar mila, humne to bas kaliyan maangi kaaton ka haar mila.

  1. Teri duniya se hoke majhboor chala main bahut door bahut door chala.

  2. kiska rasta dekhe, yeh dil aye saudayee, milon  hai khamoshi.

  3. Mera kuchh saman, tumhare paas padha hai.

  4. Tum bin jiya jaye kaise, kaise jiya jaye tum bin

  5. Ajeeb dastan hai yeh, kahan shuru kahan khatam.*

Still heart keeps on beating and life goes on.
