Chuck That Dictionary & Listen To Your Heart .

Love - just another four letter word .

-

The Oxford dictionary defines'love' as 'fondness, warm affection, sexual passion'.

Rubbish! Love cannot be defined, simply because its interpretation varies from person to person. So, chuck that dictionary and have a look at some individual dogmas about love.

For Shah Rukh Khan, love is signified by a bottle of wine.

Heyheyheyhey, k-k-k-k-kaun k-k-k-kambaqht bardaasht k-k-k-k-karne ko peeta hai haan?

For Saif Ali Khan, love is signified by a new face every week.

Kiss .ko pyar karoon . Pooja, Priya, Christina, Esha . What's there?

For Vivek Oberoi, love is not trash, it is Ash.

(But then, what's the difference between Ash and trash?!)

And for a certain reviewer on MS called Raj Lalwani, love is signified by the following songs .

MY FAVOURITE HINDI ROMANTIC TRACKS:(in no particular order)

Pehla Nasha - Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikander. My all-time favourite song, old or new, English or Hindi has to be Pehla Nasha! It is difficult to describe the beauty this song has. The beautiful lyrics(by Majrooh Sultanpuri) describe the innocence and elation of a first crush and the video is the icing on the cake. When Cupid strikes for the first time, the world seems to pass by in a haze. Others seem to be runing an F-1 race, while the love-struck remain dizzy in their joys, savouring every moment slowly. The slow-motion concept with Aamir snatching a piece of the sky in elation was a piece of genius. Udit Narayan is in top form while the criminally under-used Sadhana Sargam is simply divine. The piano piece at the beginning of the song gives me a strange inexplicable feeling whenever I hear the song. Simply the Cupid of all ballads!

Humein Tumse Pyar Kitna - Kudrat. The film may have been as melodramatic as Ekta Kapoor's soaps, but the music of the film was memorable, especially Humein Tumse Pyar Kitna. A combo of the two geniuses, Kishore Da and R.D. Burman can never fail, which was proved here. Fantastic lyrics are served up again by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Though I must say that penning such romantic lyrics would have been a cakewalk with an etereal beauty like Hema Malini being the subject!

Kya Hua Tera Vaada - Hum Kisise Kum Nahin With some great guitaring, this RD track is one of the few Rafi numbers I love(I am more of a Kishore Da fanatic) Beautifully sung by Rafi saab, he manages to bring across the pain in his voice without shaking his voice(like Sonu Nigam tends to do in sad songs). Great lyrics lift this song even higher, and I don't think I need to specify the name of the lyricist . Majrooh Sultanpari!

Tu Ashuiqui Hai & Suno Na - Jhankaar Beats. The hitherto unknown Vishal-Shekhar created magic while composing the music for Jhankaar Beats. Suno Na is brilliantly sung by Shaan. Long in duration and high on melody, this one is a treat. On the other hand, Tu Ashuiqui is one of the few KK songs that I like. Brilliantly picturised, this number is sung by KK amazingly.

Saathiya - Saathiya. Besides the spellbinding chorus, the title song is a lyrical gem. Gulzaar saab is in great form indeed! Saathiya is undoubtedly Sonu Nigam’s best song; those who could tolerate K3G would swear by Suraj Hua Maddham, yet, Saathiya comes out trumps because the song has all three requisites that make a great song - soulful lyrics, great singing, and brilliant music!

Gum Hai Kisi Ke Pyar Mein - Rampur Ka Laxman. Majrooh Sultanpuri makes his fourth appearance in this list with another brilliantly-penned number. Surely among Kishore Da's best tracks.

Pyar Humein Kis Mod Pe Le Aaya - Satte Pe Satta. What I love about this song is the amazing contrast which Kishore brings about in his voice. The first half of the song is on as low a pitch as possible, while the second half is a madcap, racy, high-pitched treat. Needless to say that Kishore is wonderful throughout. R.D. Burman chips in with his vocals in the racy half.

Raat Ka Nasha - Asoka is seductively sung by Chitra. The singer who managed to break window-panes while screeching in MPKDH has sung this number with great control. The music is haunting, and inspite of being credited to Anu Malik, it seems quite original!

Tu Jahan Jahan Rahega - Mera Saaya The title song of Mera Saaya is a haunting number, sung by Lata Mangeshkar.

Na Tum Jaano Na Hum - Kaho Naa . Pyaar Hai. Simply divine. Great lyrics coupled with a nice melody. Lucky Ali's mind-blowing vocals are the icing on the cake.

Bhool Gaya Sab Kucch & Dil Kya Kare - Julie. One of the best scores ever, Julie had great songs. These two songs stood out because of great music by Rajesh Roshan and classic stuff from Kishore Da.

Kabhi Kabhi - Kabhi Kabhi is the eternal romantic poem. Khayyam's tune was simple, Sahir Ludhianvi's lyrics were beautiful and Mukesh's voice was divine . anything else required?

Ik Ajnabee Haseena Se - Ajnabee is another Kishore gem. Picturised on Zeenat Aman and Rajesh Khanna, this number has wonderful https://lyrics.

Dil Se & Jiya Jale - Dil Se. The two best songs by A.R.Rehman. The title song is Rehman at his best, in terms of composing as well as vocals. A passionately sung number, this. Jiya Jale, on the other hand, is the only time the Lata-Rehman duo have come together. The result is magic. This one is my favourite Lata song, and with a ravishing Priety Zinta, what more do you need?

Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai - Rocky. There were two factors that made Esha and Hrithik fall in love with each other in Na Tum Jaano Na Hum. The first one was the colour blue, the second one was this song! Jokes aside, this one is a slow romantic track with RD and Kishore at their best.

Tu Tu Hai Wahi - Yeh Vaada Raha. No, this is not about three semi-naked females engaged in phone sex. The remix was a sheer insult to the original, which is a true classic. The whistle in the beginning is enchanting, and so are Asha's vocals! Kishore Kumar picks up, halfway through the song and voila! You have a classic!

Gazab Ka Hai Din - Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak is a flirteous number with one of the best opening pieces of music ever. Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan sing this number well to complement the great music. Lyrics are beautiful, as always, because the lyricist in question is Majrooh again!

So, which songs signify love for you?
