LOVE!A feeling which is most important in your life, but it is no less important for a film. And so, the foundation on which Hindi movies are based i.e. the music also reflect the power of love. A humble attempt to salute all those beautiful love songs.

I am not sure if I am going to be able to limit myself to just twenty of them, because we are so prosperous in music that we have many of them, equally brilliant. I may not be able to tell you the music directors of the old songs, yet the music given by these doyens is going to be remembered for a long time.

And before going with the songs, this 17 yr old guy wishes to tell you that I do not wish to hurt anybody's feelings with the list, I have tried to make the facts i.e. the name of film, etc. as correct as I could but still, if I make some mistakes with the name of film or music director, (I think, I must have messed them up, especially those of the old songs)please inform me immediately, and I'll correct the error!

These songs which I am enlisting herewith, are irrespective of the order:

  1. Tum paas aaye, yunh muskuraaye, tumne na jaane kya. sapne dikhaye, ab to mera dil jaage na sota hai, kya karoon haye. KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI!

The title song of the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai is scored by the duo, Jatin-Lalit. Check out the first part of song, the sound of stars twinkling, and the alaap too!

2.  Humein aur jeene ki chaahat na hoti, agar tum na hote.!

I do not know if these falls in the category of'love songs' but I feel that it is really a good song addressed to the one you love. The song is from the film'Agar tum na hote'  and sung by Kishore Kumar in his soulful voice.

3.& 4. Ek Ajnabi haseena se, yunh mulaaqat ho gayi. This song was originally sung by Kishore Kumar. The same song was reorganised and used for a recent film called'Bus yunhi' and sung by KK. Both the versions of these songs are absolutely wonderful. Especially, I love the'woh achanak aa gaye, yunh nazar ke saamne.' stanza. It is undoubtedly wonderrrffuuullll!

  1. Aasman ka neeche, hum aaj apne peeche, hum pyaar ka jahaan banaate chale is another beautifull(the double'l' is a deliberate step) Especially, Lata Mangeshkar ji is brilliant in the song!

  2. Ek do teen, aa ja mausam hai rangeen. this is the song from Aawara sung by Tuntun ji. The innocence and freshness of the song still exists in it

  3. Tujhe dekha to yeh jaana sanam, pyaar hota hai deewana sanam! This song from DDLJ, is I think among the top five best love songs. I sang this song for my girlfriend, and she accepted my proposal. That s kewwl, isn't it?!;)

  4. Zara Zara behekta hai, mehekta hai. what a song! I think this is an excellent song which clearly disapproves the propagation by the older generation that the recent songs do not have a soul. This song from Rehna Hai Terre Dil mein, is sung by a singer called Jayashree.(I am really very doubtful about this but whoever the singer may be, she has done a brilliant job.

  5. Suraj Hua Maddham is an offbeat love song from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham scored by Sandesh Shandilya, no comments about the movie, but the song is undoubtedly great.

  6. Humko humin se chura lo scored by Jatin-Lalit and sung by eternal Lata Mangeshkar is a delight to the ears. Especially, the alaap by Lata ji is wonderful!

  7. Saaathiyaaa. Woww! The song echoes through my ears. This song by A. R. Rahman is the best love song of this year! Really, tooooo good!

  8. Radha Kaise na jale! Isn't this yet another brilliant musicpiece by A. R. Rahman. This song from Lagaan has proved it that Asha Bhonsale still has the same charm in her voice. The song is the lovable conversation between Radha and Krishna. The end of this song is raised to an extraordinary level, with the ghungroos, the sitar, and of course, Asha ji's classical touch.

  9. Kambkaht ishq is a fast-paced number, conceived by Sandeep Chowta, a very good song, about love, though it is not a love song.

  10. The title song of Dil to Pagal Hai is yet another brilliant song.

  11. Woh chaand jaisi Ladki from Devdas is more towards a slow paced song, rather than a love song. But, yes, it is a love song! Splendidly sung by Udit Narayan, this song is very very difficult to sing. Yet, the music, the lyrics, of the song are simply superb!

  12. Resham si hain yeh, hawaaein sanam. yess! This song has been scored by Nikhil-vinay, a new music directors' duo, and the song titled'Jaage Jaage', definitely has to be applauded! A brilliant piece of work!

(Isn't it that I am using the word'brilliant' for just too many times!? What could I do, they all are sooo brilliant)

And I cant think of any more. Well, but there have been many many many such songs.

I am proud to be an Indian, and what makes me so proud that all these great compositions have been from our prosperous country, India!
