Music is food for my Soul!
Aug 23, 2001 12:34 PM 3931 Views

Choosing 20 songs from the millions of songs that I listen to and branding them as my favorite is tough. But. here I go. Once again I must stress that all the songs listed below are Christian! Not that I don't listen to anything else, but that these songs are truly phenomenol! You'll find these songs scattered in tapes in my room, on CDs at home, as mp3s on my comp and a few with friends.

And the winners are!

20.Everybody Said Acapella

A humorous song about being responsible this song is sung acapella and impresses with great harmony and effects! We sang this song at an interclass music comp and easily won the best song award.

19.Go and Sin No More Rebecca St. James

The last track in her CD God, this song is beautifully sung and has great changes in mood within. There's also some solid guitar strumming throughout the song.

18.In Your Hands Darlene Zschech

A soulful, lilting song that is intimate about her relationship to Christ, this song was sung by my sister in Church and I played the drums. We loved it!

17.The Real Thing World Wide Message Tribe

I watched my friends perform this song at a concert and have been crazy about this pounding Christian dance number ever since and finally located it on napster! Great dance music!

16.Since I met You DC Talk

This adrenaline gushing number is a real head turner.Get ready ro party! The song starts off with a few bars of'crooning' by Kevin and defore you know what hits you a 8.9 richter earthquake of a song hits you! Man. this rocks! Since I met you features a great combo of hard guitaring, fun lyrics, great drummin' that makes you wanna get up and boogie. The lyrics are COOOOOOOL and you've gotta listen to it

15.Name of the Lord Jennifer Knapp

From an impressive debut album, this song has a very catchy tune and some great backing vocals that hooks you. Talks about what you wanna trust in!

14.I'm Not Ashamed Newsboys

This is one of Newsboys' earlier number and features a great drum-bass combination that rocks you.  The Newsboys have since then grown and become bigger. but this will remain my favorite.

13.Any Road, Any Cost Point of Grace

Sung by the best girl band I've known(!), our class sang this song at our Baccalaureate Service during Graduation. It's been in my mind ever since and I now have it on tape and CD!

12.Lonely River Susan Ashton

This song is a flowing, winding song with a piano to lead and great soft vocals. I luv listening to it with all the lights switched off and dream I'm floating softly on water.(talk about imagination!)

11.Liquid Jars of Clay

This is an impressive blend of acoustic guitars with great vocals with a lively beat. This is JOC at it's best. Since then they have changed and slipped  and I no longer like them.

10.Can't Live a Day Avalon

Move over Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey! Enter Avalon. This song is a fabulous solo! The vocals on this are the best I've ever heard. That ain't no joke. Crystal clear the whole way. This number could have featured in a diva collection with the rest of the female music artists

9.Everyday Hillsongs

Now here's a powerful live worship number that gets the singers and the crowd moving. We had great fun singing this number in Church with full instrumental support

8.Dive Steven Curtis Chapman

From the award winning album Speechless this song sees Steven really perform! I saw a live version on TV once and boy! was the crowd loving it. Way to go Steve!

7.I Believe Rebecca St. James

From an album dedicated to Casey Bernall, this touching soft number is a lovely slow number with deep meaning.

RSJ's clear vocals blends beautifully with the keyboards in the background.

6.Big House Audio Adrenaline

Audio adrenaline spells a friendly down the street rock band that takes music to it's heights. This friendle, easy rocking number is almost childish in it's calling to join them on their way to Heaven.

5.Power of Your Love Darlene Zschech

This is a family favorite! The moving song is easy to sing and one of the most famous worship numbers in churches. You'll catch my brother, sister and me singing this song often at home at night.

4.In the Light DC Talk

With a great acoustic guitar intro, this song sees DCT freaking out on vocal harmony and is great. At one point this was my all-time favorite!

3.Two Sets of Joneses Big Tent Revival

An acoustic delight, this great song speaks about the hazards of marrying in haste. For a youngster like me, it means that God arranges my marriage!

2.Feel Michelle Tumes

Michelle Tumes' songs are nore than just music - they're an experience.

1.Into Jesus DC Talk

An unlikely winner! There's something about this song that appeals to my soul - almost a brave yet simple declaration of DCT's faith. It's slow and hushed music penetrates deep into you. Touched!

That much for now! I'd like to invite you to listen to these songs sometime! Then perhaps, you'll agree with me why I love Christian Music. Call me a Jesus Music Freak - I don't care. but the music that feeds my body mind and soul. is Christian!
