My kinda music
Sep 21, 2001 10:20 PM 5742 Views

Music is what drives my soul! Choosing the twenty best music albums isn't easy, but I'll try.

The most different thing you'll probably find in this review is that all albums are Christian. I'm a die-hard Christian music fan!

Here's my countdown for the top 20.

20.Yo Kidz 2- The Armor of God by Carman

An album for kids that packs Carman's unique talents of singing narrating into a one-hour album. It's got humor, rap, acapella, rock!

19.My Faith Will Stay by Cheri Keaggy

A soft album, Cheri's heart-felt vocals dominate ina very encouraging album.

18.God is Good by Don Moen

He gave Christian music one of the most sung new worship song! This album is live and to date Don's best. Has some great instrumental displays - Don's violin and the Bass jigs between with good orchestral background.

17.Petraphonics by Petra

Petra is hard rock but this album features their soft rock numbers. Really clear and acoustic, it offers a very different Petra experience.

16.God by Rebecca St. James

Her second album, this has a very unique appeal in its music and https://lyrics.

  1. Life, Love and other Mysteries by Point of Grace

The best Girl Band around(!), POG spells excellent, vibrant harmony that is great.

14.Speechless by Steven Curtis Chapman

Steven has a great impact in CCM and continues to top Christian charts. This award-winning album pumps adrenaline and is Steven at his best!

13.Sonic Flood by Sonic Flood

I've listened to Jeff Deyo about a dozen years ago and never thought he would ever do any good music. Well here's SF with a praise  album that is intimate and personal. There's a lot of cover versions, but.

12.WWJD various artists

The 4 letters that had the greatest impact on Christian music! Based on BTR's song, this compilation album is a brilliant choice of songs - DC Talk to Audio Adrenaline to Considering Lily!

11.Common Creed by Wes King

I discovered Wes quite accidentally and if you've rread my review on this album you'll know I'm glad! Clear vocals and great guitars make this a Christ centred album that gets you thinking aboiut life.

10.All Things are Possible by Darlene Zschech

My favorite worship leader! This album is power-packed and intimate. Darlene is amazing!

9.Wow 1996/97/98/2000

I bought ths first copy of wow 1996, and since then have benn eagerly looking for a new collection every year! This is the best way to sample the  best in Christian music every year.

8.Lovely Noise Revival Generation

A compilation of great praise numbers, this is one in a series of modern worship that is bound to impress you. It has a lot of the lesser-known  worship leaders and a great website.

7. In a Different Light by Avalon

This album is impressive in its variety and lively feel. You'll find great Christian Pop music, dance numbers and ballads!

6.Supernatural by DC talk

The best Christian Music band around, this follow up album to jesus Freak  is a lovely mix of ppop and rock.

5. Kansas by Jennifer Knapp

She has a voice like Alannah Morisette and a heart for God. This is one of the best debut albums I've ever heard. She has great acoustic guitars and good backing vocals on this.

4.Shout to the Lord 2000 by Darlene Zschech

A follow up album to Shout to the Lord, this album is power-packed, fiery and intimate. Darlene is a great live performer and this album is no different!

3.More than Gold

The official Christian album for the Olympics 2000, this features the best in modern Christian Praise. It's an excellent compilation and features Darlene, Darrel Evans. Robin Mark among others. The testimonies on the cover are touching.

2.Jesus Freak by DC Talk

This path-breaking album by DC Talk showed their transformation from hip-hop to Rock. It brought Christian Music to the forefront of World Music. They sound great and pack a lot of power into each song.

1.Listen by Michelle Tumes

Musical Poetry is how I'd describe this album. The music is full and really touches you, penetrating deep into you. The vocals are a class apart and the lyrics are amazing. This album is THE best I've ever heard!

So much for my top 20. There are a whole lot of great Christian artists who's albums are not available oin India as yet-  Audio Adrenaline, Delirious, Seven Day Jesus, OC Supertones, Third Day, etc. When they come to India, that list up there is bound to change.!
