Story:

I had read Quiver full of arrows long back, which started my tryst with books of Jeffrey Archer. After reading ‘Not a Penny Less, Not a penny more’ and ‘The Eleventh Commandment’ I became his fan. I never knew that “Twelve Red Herrings” was short story book. Once strolling through the market I came across this book and thought to give it a try since it was written by Jeffery Archer.

Red Herring is a thing that draws attention away from something important. After reading the book anyone can make out that Jeffery Archer has mastered the art of story telling. All the stories are beautifully written and interesting.

The best among them are Never stop on the motorway, Do not pass go, An Eye for an Eye, among others.

Short description of the stories is given below.

Never Stop on the Motorway:

Story “Never stop on the Motorway” makes your hairs stand on the end. It is the story of a lady named Diana who is divorced with two children. On one weekend she goes to meet her friend Daniel, who has an estate in countryside. While driving on the road she is followed by a driver in another Car. Jefferey archer has givien a nice vivid and thrilling description of chase by the driver. And the last page is wonderful, where in end Jeffrey reveals the plot. This story will leave you in awe and amazement. This is the best thrilling story I have ever read.

Do not Pass Go

This is a story of Hamid Zebari, who was once Agricultural Minister in Iraq. He flees from his country and settles in States. He was declared absconding in Iraq and was now on death list of Saddam Hussein. He goes for a business trip to Turkey where a situation arises where his life is at stake.

An Eye for an Eye

An Eye for an Eye is a very amusing story. The title of the story is aptly chosen. It’s a story about a lawyer Sir Mathew Roberts who gets case of a blind woman. He sure of one thing about a case and makes plan to prove his point. And again in the end, like his other stories, the plot is beautifully revealed.
