Hello there MS members !!I am back to bore you again ... thought I would give all of you a respite for a couple of days before starting out again .
Turquoise cottage ....fancy name alright but the location is anything but fancy . Located in one corner of Adhchini , actually it is the last row of Adhchini , is a nightmare to drive to . Once you do get there you realize you need to park about a kilometer ahead on the open road in between a lot of co-operative housing societies without any kind of street lighting.There are hardly any guards around either .Dunno if it has happened to anyone , but I feel leaving your vehicle in the open just might be too much of a temptation for some people who sell used cars, very inconspicuously. We also call these people thieves. If you want a parking space right in front of turquoise cottage , make sure you are there before 9:00 PM. All that done , ask the guard which is the entry for Turquoise cottage , you also have ''Pehli Manzil'' a restaurant as the next door neighbour.
That is probably the only negative point I could see about this place. Once you enter this joint it opens up to you . Huge first level with a lot of seating available .As you may have guessed this is the restaurant part of the joint . Seating is available for groups of 2, 4, 6 and 8 , and I would tend to think large parties can also be accommodated. Walk straight and take the stairs to the lower level , that is where you want to be. You enter the pub half of Turquoise cottage. If you are unsure of the directions to reach the pub , just follow the music. Suddenly you realize that all the space disappeared . The pub is very very small . Seating is in a straight line and you will have people bumping into you very often. There are 3 or 4 enclosed seating areas available right at the start , normally reserved .There is a DJ console to the right and the bar counter to the left . In between is what they call the dance floor . The decor though is pretty decent , designed to look like the wild west . They also have one of those vintage bikes parked there , dunno where it fits into the wild west decor. Looks damn good though.
Ok , enough negative points. Now for the fun part of this pub . Besides what I have already said about the space and the parking everything else would more than cover for these 2 negative aspects. They have a very decent menu selection , food and drinks .Prices are reasonable enough. Since they have no happy hours the drink costs are slightly lower than other pubs , but do keep in mind that the bill can run up once you get started.Reason is the lack of happy hours , you get only one drink for the price specified. The service is decent enough , waiters turn up almost immediately when called for. The drinks reach pretty fast as well. My advise would be to go in for one of the baskets they offer . These are drink baskets for a couple of drinks and can normally serve 3-4 people.
Food, damn good , thats all I have to say about it , it maybe because I do not know much about Thai food , but what I ate tasted great. Keep in mind though that there are some items on the menu marked with a red chili in front. Yes the chili is meant for a purpose , those items are HOT !!!! .So hopefully most of you unlike me will not go ordering those red chili items despite several warnings verbal and written if you are of the weak stomach types. It burns right through.
Music , one of the very few places which play rock music till the wee hours . The DJ has an excellent collection and rarely do you see the songs being repeated unless by request. The fun begins once the dance floor opens up. As usual you have the usual crowd who cannot dance making fools of themselves and the crowd which can. One thing which immediately comes to mind is a couple I saw dancing here. They would easily be the best dancing pair I have ever seen in my numerous sojourns to discs and pubs with dance floors.
Overall I would rate this place as worth visiting. If only these guys can do something about the space. Its so small... Well I keep cribbing about the space in every pub I go to , but thats a different case all together. Maybe because I am huge ... :-D . Try to get here before 10:00 Pm though , it gets terribly crowded in the nights . Easily one of the best night spots in the South Delhi area .
