For the past six months I am flying with Turkish Airlines regularly. So thought of writing a review on it. I would like to share my experience of flying Turkish Airlines from Ashgabat(Turkmenistan) to Istanbul by TK 325 airbus. Turkish Airlines is one of the main airlines in Turkmenistan, which connects Central Asia to Europe. It operates 3 flights daily from Turkey to Turkmenistan.
Check In:
The flight was early morning and the airport was crowded. When I about to get my boarding pass, the computer network was down and all the passengers has to wait for 30 minutes to get the boarding pass. The Turkish airline staff issued me the ticket from Ashgabat to Istanbul, when I asked for my onward flight ticket to Bangalore via Dubai, they told me to collect the other tickets in Istanbul. Usually airlines like Emirates issue tickets till the final destination, even if the connecting flight is of different airlines.
*Boarding
All passengers were asked to board flight from departure gate no 1. Passengers who were travelling to Russia, Ukraine and other places were also asked to board flight from gate no 1. There’s no proper display of flight timings as well. So there’s lot of confusion among the passengers. Finally we were asked to board the aircraft . Two airhostesses were standing near the entrance and guide us in the right directions. Aircraft took off 30 minutes late.
*The Flight
The aircraft was brand new with attractive colourful seats. Economy class seating is arranged in 3-3 fashion. The economy class has very comfortable seating. There were enough space between the seats and we can adjust the seats with the touch screens buttons. Apart from that, adjustable headrest made seating more comfortable. Overhead bins are spacious enough to keep our luggage. The journey was very smooth and I dint feel any bumps or vibrations throught out the flight.
Entertainment
As the flight was early morning, everyone were fast asleep as soon as they boarded the flight. So there was no much entertainment throughout the flight. A small TV which lowered from the top displayed the flight map, present position, height, speed, time elapsed from the take off and estimated time of arrival. Apart from that there were some music channels.
The Food
A small menu card was provided when we boarded the aircraft. Fruit Juice were given as a welcome drink. Choice of two different meals were available, I had bread, egg, fresh fruit and cheese stuffed with vegetables. That was really delicious. When I asked for some coffee or tea, the airhostess told me it’s over. Then after half an hour another airhostess brought me a cup of tea.
Disembarkation
The four hour journey and flight landing was very smooth. I was not so impressed by the cabin-crew but ok, maybe there were tired after the long night journey.
Overall impressions
Overall good, flight journey was very smooth, the crew members were helpful and friendly but they should concentrate on in-flight services and customer care.
