Anubhav Sinha's debut movie Tum Bin is not exactly a classic, but is a fine effort never the less. This movie is a lot of firsts, four debutant actors and a director making his debut.Shekhar(Priyanshu) is a talented young man residing in Mumbai. He lost both his parents in a road accident. He meets Rakesh, owner of Shah enterprises in Canada in a party. After the party,Shekhar accidently kills Rakesh in a car crash and flees. His conscience begins to prick him and he goes to Canada and tries to revive the drowning Shah industry. In the process,he becomes very close to Rakesh's family who dont know the truth. He also falls in love with Sandali(Rakesh's fiancee).Enter Abhi(Himanshu) a young millionaire who also promptly falls in love with Sandali. In order to free Shah enterprises fro any loan,Himanshu offers to buy 40% of their shares. But,Shekhar and the board disagree, yet,Sandali goes ahead. The disappointed Shekhar leaves for Mumbai. In the last moment Sandali confesses her love for Shekhar. But,Shekhar denies loving her and boards the plane. He again leaves the plane to go after Sandali when the cop arrives from Mumbai and arrests him for the hit and run accident. He calls Sandali and tells her the entire story and in the process a truck runs over him.He is admitted to the hospital. But,Sandali and Rakesh's family accept him as their new son,the cop seeing their love frees shekhar who eventually becomes all right. An usual story made bright by some good acting by Priyanshu and scraps of melodious ghazals from Jagjit Singh.Sandali looks cute, has a girlish voice making it quite difficult to visualize her as a business-woman.For th die-hard romantics, this movie is a must-watch.For the general public,it does not hold much promise.
