The character arcs in both the films are similar. The first half the script keeps you fairly engaged, by the over-sentimental second half proves to be the major downfall of the film. The dialogues here are just awful here. The somber feel of dealing with complexities of lost love is maintained in this remake. However, Sinha is not able to extract believable performances from his characters. He is good at picturising his songs, but poor at giving the film any semblance of logic and believability. The original had soulful songs that gave the film a lot of recall value. The album in the remake doesn’t match up. It has one outstanding song by the deceased maestro Jagjit Singh, but the rest of the songs pale in comparison.
Conclusion:
The first half is fairly engaging, but the second half is an unbearable sob fest, so watch it at your own risk
