Another hot thing about this film is Manisha Koirala,who was caught in a controversy with her director for ?Ek Chhotisi Love Story?.This time,she did the steamy scenes herslf without a body double.The film has a controversial them,as its USP.
Bollywood is trying to make more and more films made on extra-marital affairs and on the attraction between a young boy and an aged woman.Films like Jism, Leela, Humraaz,etc.were based on themes like extra-marital afaairs,where as films such as Dil Chahta Hai, Ek Chhotisi Love Story, Freaky Chakra, etc. showed the story of attraction between aged women and young boys.These two themes are shown in this film.So, does it work? Not really!

Venus Films.?Tum?-A Dangerous Obsession?,directed by Aruna Raje,stars Manisha Koirala,Karan Nath,Rajat Kapoor,Netanya Singh and Aman Verma.The film was said to have three lengthy lovemaking scenes,which it has,but the problem is that anyone who will be expecting this film to be a very sexy one,will be disappointed,despite having all these scenes.Why???Read the review?.
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Kamini Gupta(Manisha Koirala):Kamini Gupta,is a normal housewife and a mother of two teenagers.She gets involved in a mistake,which leads her to many problems.Manisha Koirala,as Kamini Gupta does a good job.I had been reading some reviews,which stated that her performance was poor,but I never felt so.Actually,she impressed me in several scenes.She looked what she was playing.The only scene where she seemed awkward was the one,where she gets drunk,otherwise throughout the whole movie,she did a wonderful job.Coming to her appearance,she looked fat,in several scenes but she looked gorgeous in the first half,where she is in Mauritius.In the second half,I must admit,that she looks old and tired.
2.Vinod Gupta(Rajat Kapoor):Vinod Gupta is a rich businessman,a loving husband and a loving father.He is also a successful businessman.In short,he has it all to lead a successful life.Rajat Kapoor,is natural to the core.Playing the role of a modern husband,he never lets you feel as if Vinod is an imaginary character.He looks cool,modern and above all what he is playing.
3.Jatin Pandey(Karan Nath):Jatin is a young photographer,who has a girlfriend,still he is interested in a woman much elder to him.He imagines her all the time.Karan Nath,disappoints the audience,big time.The face expressions he makes are very artificial.Also his character is half-baked.You won`t feel as if he is an obsessive guy,you`ll feel as if he is a mentally challenged guy who has escaped from a mental hospital.You simply can`t feel anything for him.Nor can you hate him,nor can you sympathize with him.One question which hits my mind is that who ever told Karan Nath,that he does an excellent job in negative roles?He was pathetic in ?Sssshhh??,when his character turned negative,and he is equally bad in this film,as well.The only thing I will have to admit is that he isat least,bearable.He doesn`t get on your nerves but at the same time,he doesn`t leave an impression on his viewers,as well.
Netanya Singh as Jatin`s girlfriend is terrible.She can do only one thing and that is exposing.Aman Verma,as the cop is good.I had been hearing that he tried to copy Amitabh Bachchan,but don`t know why I never felt so.The others are alright.The boy who plays Abhay,Kamini and Vinod`s son,is excellent where as the girl who play their daughter(she starred in ?Yeh Kya Ho Raha Hai?,earlier),is some time fine and most of the time,irritating.The guy,oh sorry,?gay?,who plays Lalit,is least impressive.he didn`t deserve a meaty role,like he got in this film.Also,shifting the focus on him,in the climax was ridiculous.
THE STORY:
Kamini Gupta,is the wife of a rich businessman,Vinod Gupta,who owns a multinational company.The couple decides to celebrate its 18th wedding anniversary at Mauritius.Kamini goes to Mauritius from India and Vinod has yet to come to Mauritius through UK.Somehow,Vinod`s flight gets delayed and so Kamini is left alone in Mauritius.There,Kamini meets Jatin Pandey,a young photographer,who takes her photos.
On the anniversary night,when Kamini`s husband doesn`t arrive,Jatin asks Kamini to celebrate her wedding anniversary with him.Both of them go to a restaurant,where they dance and drink.By the time,kamini s heavily drunk and loses her consciousness.Jatin takes Kamini to her room,and while she is drunk,Jatin does all the things with Kamini which are done on the bed.
The next morning when Kamini wakes up,she finds out Jatin in her bed and realizes her mistake.She is ashamed of herself,for the mistake and she tells Jatin to forget everything.Vinod,finally arrives at Mauritius and celebrates his wedding anniversary with Kamini,in a very romantic way.When they go back to India,Jatin also follows them.Jatin starts being friendly with Kamini`s family,which consists of her husband and children.Even when he is with his girlfriend Isha,he imagines Kamini.
Kamini becomes an obsession for jatin,and he wants Kamini to sleep with him again.He threatens Kamini,that if she will not sleep with him again,he will try to do wrong things with her daughter.Kamini answers back saying that she will kill him.After some days,Jatin gets killed and so there are several suspects-Kamini,Vinod,their children or Isha.Who is the murderer?
THE GOOD POINTS:
The treatment,of the film makes it a watchable one.The relationships between Kamini,Vinod and their children have been shown in a very realistic manner.There is no ?sati-savatri? patni,putting a ?bindiya?,on her forehead or wearing mangalsutra,all the time.She is a simple wife,wearing jeans and behaving very casually.Same is in the case of Vinod.His character is such with whom any married man of TODAY can relate.
In this film,the relationship between a wife and a husband is shown in a very open way.Then,their relationship with their children is shown brilliantly.No melodrama,at all.In fact,I loved the scene,where Kamini`s and Vinod`s daughter,talks privately with jatin from the other extension and Kamini questions why they have to talk in private?Today`s generation is like this.
