This is the second time Salman has played a simple guy after Bajrangi Bhaijan, but Bajranji was different.
This movie revolves around 2 brothers who are raised by Om Puri(his last movie) as they lost their parents at early age. They have bee altogether while they are growing up. Its only when army comes to their town for hiring, Sohail gets selected and has to leave for war(Indo-China, 1962). This is very you get to see more emotions of Salman. When Sohail leaves, Salman is waiting for him to come back after war(hoping). Post 2nd half there is a new plot of the new actors(kid and his mother) whom Salman thinks are Chinese. The story continues where everyone hoping for their loved ones to come back and then there is a good climax(not to be told). Plot is okay. The movie also revolves around how we treat NorthEastern people in India.
Performance wise everyone has done a good job, specially OM Puri. The kido(Matin) is adorable. Salman is more liked in roles which have good action, good one-liners for the front-benchers, great music. Hype has been created around SRK's cameo in movie.
Music is okay, with Radio song being popular as this was the first song introduced with trailer. All songs are okay.
Cinematography is very good. The visual effects are good for a big screen experience.
This one is a good watch with family.
