My experience at Dalhousie with YHAI.
Jun 20, 2008 01:19 PM 8790 Views

Well I am from YHAI Goregaon unit and life member of YHAI. It was great experience we had in 2003 on our Dalhousie trek, we were six friends started our journey from Mumbai to kangara valley trek and then Dalhousie trek, but in the train we changed out plan and went to vaishnav devi insted of Kangara valley, I was the one who got inspired from other comuters in the train who were going to vaishnav devi darshan.

I though y cant we go there yaar, for kangara valley we had to get down 1 station before to Jammu and I was feeling like, when we have come so close to vaishan devi then y cant go there yaar and after convincing very hard to my other friends we changed our plan and headed to Jammu, due there was no plan for us to visit vaishan devi, we didn’t have any proper information about it. it was very strange that one honeymoon couple told us to join them without knowing each other. Common we were 4 guys and he was with his beautiful wife. But we accepted his proposal and assured both to behave good. Well all of us were good even though don’t look like, but they also admitted the same, later on.

same day we started climbing to temple and next day morning with tired legs we return back to hotel. We were all happy for very good darshan we had, but worried for our Dalhousie trek. Due we had time to start our Dalhousie trek, we thought that we will spend 1 more day in Jammu and nothing else to do than just rest. But destiny was written already, in the hotel we got one more proposal to visit Kashmir from the hotel guy. Now we were confused and deal was very good but it was for all 6 that means including that honeymoon couple, who will ask them such stupid question to them that’s what we were discussing, they were on their honeymoon trip how can we ask them to join us for kashmir yaar, but we all laughed when this guy asked us for the deal and he was ready for it. Now we all said ok and without any rest we left for kashmir. We kept their name Raja Rani.

I wont talk about our Kashmir tour as topic is different. So after Kashmir tour we all including Raja Rani came to base camp for Dalhousie. For Raja Rani we made separate arrangement for hotel and tour package and we went to our tents for resting as next day we were suppose to start, due we were the last to report we had to sleep outside in the tent, but believe me man, that the awesome place for us, it was like personal room even though cold was extrim outside and in the night it was so windy that we thought our tent wil gonna fly and we will get freeze in the night, but we were lucky to be in our tent.

Next day when our camp leader told us to run for warming up we four and other 2 of our friends who joined us at Dalhousie was most lazy to run and we just walked. Camp leader thought we will not make it for the trek and was not so happy with us, but next day we made few more friends and our group became bigger of size, it was almost of 18 trekker all together. It was nice to make new friends and do the trekking.

Kalatop, Khajjiar, Chamba all were so beautiful that could not express in words its only possible to show our photographs. You can check it out my website https://sudhir.in or https://photos.ibibo.com/users/GATTAWAR

As we are most naughtiest chaps in the group we kept pulling legs of everyone in the group. It was all nice cause everyone was taking it lightly and were laughing on the jokes made on themselves.

Food was really great, all the camp sights were too good. Specially at khajjiar we got the best place in the town, it was right at the mini Switzerland.  We got warm welcome by locals and also with beautiful music played by one of the known army jawan of our camp leader. It was all nice.

After Dalhousie trek, I have become great fan of YHAI and totally involved in trekking since then. Now leading YHAI Goregaon unit with various treks in Sahyadri and in Himalayas. Checkout my website for all treks and expeditions I did.
