To discover the myopic approach of the planning, sanctioning and licensing authorities of commercial business premises of Indore, then a visit to the Treasure Island (TI) shopping mall on MG Road, Indore, is certainly called for.

Especially around the weekend. It is like going to war! Parking is a disaster. Drivers like tooting their horn in closed premises, like tunnels, railway underbridges and the like. And they do the same in the TI underground parking lot.

To hell with your ears, we like to press our horn button, step on it (smilingly) with our feet and keep standing on it (with mouth wide open)! In summer months it is difficult to breathe in the undergound parking.Hope some activist will take one of those sound and oxygen measuring meters to the second floor of the basement parking and uncover startling facts on how life in this mini metro is.

Security guys have been it seems, imported in bulk from a particular north Indian state known for unruly behaviour. The same methods and principles are practiced on folk parking or visiting TI. Crowding has to be seen to be believed at weekends. People jostle each other. One has to be profecient in the art and science of elbowing, to move from point 'A' to point 'B' within the floor. And if you are a female, may the Almighty bless you.

Working of the escalators is erratic. This is a major bottleneck. Leads to further crowding and knotting of visitors at the embarking and alighting points. Elevators are too few. Probably the guy who designed the mall wanted people to promenade leisurely through the premises, instead of giving every thing a go-bye by swishing from floor to floor using a lift.

Totally closed design of the mall, obviously for climate control purposes, awaits disaster due to its limited entry-exit points (hope the investigating agencies won't turn their heat on me just for writing a review on Mouthshut.com if something really happens in the days to come! This is just a user's review of the goings on at Treasure Island, nothing more nothing less!)

PVR multiplex has been located on the fourth floor. Visitors coming to view a movie are forced to trudge through all the floors and then find their seat, like light at the end of a tunnel. Ditto after the show! Future versions of malls should have multiplex halls nearer to the ground floor, to make entry-exit easier in emergencies. That PVR is a good cineplex however, is also a point to be noted. And so are the retailers and food & beverage vendors.
