We've stayed at this hotel last December 2015 and returned as we were passing through again. Last time we were here, we didn't leave feeling wow'ed or anything, but with a deal through Hotels.com, we decided to go with it again. WE ARE SO HAPPY THAT WE DID! With what seems recent changes and renovations coming close to an end, we noticed a drastic difference from what we had rated as a 3 star stay last time.
We LOVED our stay this time around and have now decided that it will be our go-to spot for our road trips to visit family throughout the year. It was so hard to leave!
Here's what's wonderful about this place:
When you stay, you're treated like a member. You get access to some amazing amenities. The bed is our favorite, because we're coming from being cooped up in a car for 8-9 hours! The bed is so comfortable! It's firm yet soft at the same time.
We took advantage of the bar food and it was so delicious! Not your typical hotel food. This also applies to their complimentary breakfast! You have a good choice of breakfast meats, eggs, and condiments. You have your cold choices like cereal, yogurt, and a range of beverages. The coffee is as good as we remembered it! All the breakfast items were excellent quality especially for something that's free!
The staff was super friendly, accommodating, and helpful! They truly care about your comfort and experience. We really appreciated the bar staff offering to bring our food to our rooms when we ordered to-go and when we were on our way out, the front desk clerk grabbed a hot cup of coffee for us in a to-go cup when we found the complimentary tea and coffee station empty.
The rooms were so nice and quiet! You truly get a sense of privacy and relaxation. What's really awesome about this place is that you don't get the typical travel rush from road trippers and passers-by. The other guests that stay there are very pleasant and there to also relax and take advantage of the class and quality amenities at the Avelon. Some people bring kids, but you'd hardly notice because the areas the kids use such as the pool, are long away from the rooms we've stayed in so it was nice to not get all the noise that comes with them.
The only comment we have about the hotel, and I believe it might have been a specific incident to us, is that house keeping kept knocking on our door in the morning. We had asked for a late check out, which the hotel was so nice to give us(being pregnant, things just happen a little more slowly in the mornings and I needed as much time as possible to get myself situated before we hit the road again), but at 9:00am we got house keeping knocking on the door and then even after my husband told her that we had late check out, they came around again at 11:00(our check out was 1:00). We noticed that the other door across from us had a "Do Not Disturb Sign", but we realized after all this that we didn't have the sign to put up.
Despite of, honestly it wasn't a big deal enough to change our minds at all about this place! We actually have decided to even make it a getaway spot for any future plans for some rest and relaxation!
