I had made a booking through travelguru for a hotel in Ooty based on a list of user reviews posted on it.

However, I did not like the hotel much. While making the reservation, I had typed my email address incorrect. Because of this, I was not able to send my feedback to travelguru(they match the email address used during reservations).

Few days after our trip was over, travelguru staff called my wife for the feedback(They could not call my number somehow). They have a specific set of questions to ask to the customers for the hotel reviews(like was the room clean, was the food in the restaurants tasty, etc). Such questions do not give a clear picture of the hotel.

In the hotel, the room given to us was already occupied by somebody else. Their luggage was also kept in the room. The hotel staff insisted that the luggage was ours and we can occupy the room. Such a lack of correlation between the hotel staff. We had to argue with the people at the reception for this for about half an hour. Then the manager shifted us to another room.

Based on the travelguru questionaire, the calculated rating about the hotel was 4. But based on our experience, we could have given a rating of 2. I was little disturbed by a rating of 4 mentioned against my name in travelguru. For this, I contacted travelguru and they sorted out the things.

Overall, I like the service of travelguru.

The good thing about this website is their correctness in showing the availability in the hotels. Other websites have available on-request option. They check with the hotel after taking our request. This takes around 24 hours. Many a times, I have seen a room available in a particular hotel through travelguru but not through other website. The rates are the cheapest.

However, they don't have the option to create a member profile. There was a typo in my email address while booking for a hotel. Because of this, I was unable to retrieve my booking using my email id. Their website might have sent me an email to the incorrect id because of the typo.

I even wanted to participate in their "A Prize for Your Review" contest

but could not because I was supposed to send them an email from the

email id I used for my booking. Because of the typo in the email address, I could not post my feedback online.

They should look into this matter.

Overall, they have a good collection of hotels. They can improve in providing a better room description and facilities so as to let the viewers decide about the hotel/room well.
