I had arranged a hotel booking ato Cochin for 18Aug - 20Aug through Travel Port by redeeming a hotel voucher. I had to pay an extra processing charge of Rs 799 to them also. Before going I had called Travel Port to reconfirm and they said that there would not be any issues and payments were being made to the hotel.
On reaching the hotel I was told by the hotel manager that Travelport had not made the payment and if I had to stay I would have to make my own payment at standard rates.
It was shocking - I had made many bookings through many agencies on the internet for past several years and only this time it turned out to be completely unreliable! But I had limited choice - a long weekend, stranded in an unknown city with family with a small kid. I made my own payments and stayed there.
Since then I have been trying to reach Travel Port for an explanation. I managed to speak to them only once and the response was "we will check with the hotel and get back." No apologies and no compensation for the money I had to shell out for their goof-up.
