MOVIE OF THE YEAR
2007 is supposed to be the year of some big movies. We already had Spiderman 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Shrek 3, Die Hard 4 and the new Harry Potter. But none of them seemed as good as the Transformers. The movie has already broken the record of Spiderman record of 2002. The robots are just too cool when it comes to the movies, and when there are two groups of robot fighting eachother, its even better. Transformers have managed to grow up from the old cartoon series and Michael Bay has made the movie look better, supported by the visual effects which you won't see anywhere else.
The movie is about two groups of robots who fight eachother, autobots and deceptions. The former team lead by Optimus Prime, the largest robot of the gang, has landed on earth on a mission to find and destroy an artifact called "Allspark", which can help Deceptions' leader Megatron to rule the world with its immense power. Megatron detects the Allspark on Earth and lands, but gets frozen as he lands right into the ice in the Arctic circle. A group of explorers find the body, and as Megatron's navigational system is active, the leader's glasses gets the location imprinted on it. A secret agency of United States Government builds a Dam around the Allpsark and also researches on the frozen Megatron for advancement in technology.
LIFE GETS SERIOUS FOR SAM
The grandson of the explorer who found Megatron, Sam Witwicky(Shia LaBeouf) is looking for his first car and manages to buy an old model of Chevrolet Camaro. He also tries to sell his grandfather's glasses at e-bay to earn some money. At the same time, Megatron's followers, the other deceptions - Blackout, Scorponok, Frenzy, Barricade, Starscream, Bonecrusher, and Devastator had already landed on Earth. They finds out the location of those glasses and tracks down Sam. While the other Deceptions are wrecking havoc in the various parts of Earth, its Barricade disguised as a police car who finds Sam. But Sam's car turns out to be the only autobot on Earth, and he manages to ge rid of Barricade, and signal the other autobots who finally lands on the Earth. After joining forces with the other four other autobots Optimus Prime, Ironhide, Jazz, and Ratchet, they prepare for the search for Allspark and also the final battle.
Optimous Prime: The leader of the autobots is the better-looking, tallest and the most powerful of the autobots. He believes in freedom for every race, and stands strongly on his principles. He is even ready to sacrifice himself for saving the world and the Allspark from Megatron and his followers. He takes the form of a truck as he lands on the Earth.
Ironhide: Ironhide is the toughest of all autobots, and the weapon specialist. He loves to use his cannons, and keep talking about it. He looks very heavy with all the cannons and guns loaded, but he faster than he seems to be. He takes the form of a pickup truck after he lands. He is one of the most experienced warriors among autobots.
Ratchet: He takes the form of an yellow Hummer H2. He is the medical officer of the gang and repairs the other autobots. He is less into battles, but happens to be good fighter with his powerful saw and machine gun. His colour is just the same as Bumblebee, but looks a bit bigger in comparison.
Bumblebee: Bumblebee is the first autobot to land on earth, and happens to be the most friendly among them. Prime assigns him as the guardian of Sam and he does that job quite well as he saves him from Barricade. He takes the form of Chevrolet Camaro and despite his smaller size, manages to take out Devastator with some external help. Due to some damage in an earlier battle, his ability to talk is lost, and uses radio for transmission.
Jazz: A very small, but quick fighter who takes the form of a roadster Pontiac Solstice, and also got a magnetic arm which can be used effectively against humans with weapons. But the smaller size makes him less effective against huge opponents like Megatron, Starscream and Devastator.
Megatron: The undisputed leader of the deceptions take the form a space jet and he may be the most powerful among all the robots from Cyberton planet. Even in the final battle, he looks unstoppable against every autobot. Hugo Weaving gives the sound for Megatron, and this may be the one deception whom you can figure out easily, from his size and power itself.
Starscream: This one takes the form of an F-22 raptor, and may be the next powerful deception after Megatron. He is huge, fast and strong, but his role in the movie is limited, even if he destroys a number of human fighters in the final battle. He is the kind of deception who won't mind ending the reign of Megatron and take the control by himself.
Devastator: Also called Brawl, Devastator takes the form of a tank, and has immense fire power. He is also huge and looking for battle as we can see from his form itself. He is equally powerful in his robotic form too, and it will take more than just some shots on the torso to take him down.
Barricade: He takes the form of a Ford Mustang police car and works more as a scout for the deceptions. He is the first one to find out Sam, before having to face Bumblebee and retreat. His role in the movie is a bit confusing as he doesn't come for the final battle even after being informed about the location of Allspark.
Scorponok: Just as the name suggests, this one is a machine with the looks of a black scorpion. He is forced to retreat by the US millitary in the beginning itself. But this mechanized scorpion has made some impact in the movie with its attack on the troops in the desert. The absence of this deception in the final battle is something unexplained too.
Blackout: The first deception to attack the humans, and this one is a helicopter, and is huge. He also has the ability to use his propellors as a weapon and Scorponok also works as his partner or minion. His ability to simulate a pilot when he is in helicopter mode, makes him more difficult to trace.
Bonecrusher: This one is another huge deception who cares less about others. He has only a short role in the movie and is finished by Optimus Prime in a flash, but is featured in many of the trailers and screens. He seemed fearless in the movie, but just seemed to have less brain as he took on the opposition's powerful leader all by himself.
Frenzy: He may be the smallest and the most annoying deception in the movie. He has the role of a spy among the deceptions as he tracks down Sam with ease and informs all the other deceptions. Frenzy is only about 3 feet tall, but his weaponry is lethal, and good enough to kill even himself with just one shot.
