Using transcend mp870 player for more than 18 months.
Pros
• battery life: its good. With optimum volume & resource, at least 6-8 hrs playback or 3-4 hrs video.
• equalizers: probably one of the highest range of equalizer settings in digital players.
• folder support: simply drag and drop. Random shuffle options is not found in many brand players
• format: plays .flv & .flac media files apart from conventional formats.
• recording: I have tested in lectures. This is good but there is a lot of room for improvement.
Some of the features are better than many brand players. I have used e-book feature for reading books while listening to music. Sound quality for radio & music is good too.
Cons
• volume:though amplification is better than many brands which adheres to eu limits, still needs amplification. Some volume up firmware engineered by experts are available online to enjoy full power of the player. Volume keys are same as navigation keys. This is a very big drawback experienced while accessing the player .
• screen display: needs to be at least 2.7 inch for e-book reading and watching videos. Video access features are very limited too .
• even for minimal wear & tear causing malfunction, you may have to give up the player. There is no option. A brand like transcend has no repair & service centers . So think!
Sound quality is good. Access features are very good for music files but not for video playback. Volume keys problem can be experienced when you use it. To address issues support through repair & service center within reach is needed.
