Hey Guys,

Some of us always look for this answer on which MUV & SUV and I was same boat for some time back. I took the help from some of you (experts J) and also collected information. Here is summary, of SUV- Scorpio, & MUV-Tavera & Innova. Hope it will be helpful.

Before I give feedback on Innova I brought, here are inputs on why did not choose other two. Scorpio is mind blowing when it comes to its outside looks. I have driven both older version and new version of Scorpio. New version with change in suspension has great impact on stability of at high speeds. Interiors & plastic has improved with new version. But it is typical Jeep in mindset. You can expect rattling sound and nuts & bolts coming out in couple of years. Then third row, is just for name sake. It is really cramped. And talk about A.C, third row people must get their own fan when they get in. But one thing, even in new version, sometimes still feel your vehicle is oscillating on the road at speed. Fuel consumption, I wouldn’t like to comment as there are various feedback, but in general it gives about 10-11 KM/LT . Talk about the dealer, it is night mare, some of the sales representative are typical M&M tractor sellers. It is not general feedback but you do hear similar stories about giving false promises on vehicle delivery date, after sale service and so on.

Now Tavera, great fuel efficient MUV. Interiors are also fine. With new version of Tavera has improved the third row sitting comfort by lowering the surface so that we have more leg space. Though I do not say, that it is huge improvement. But this MUV really lacks the power, which we see in other two. When I did test drive, I felt I should get down and push from back with five people inside. Just does not have torque at lower gears. So I decided to not to look back. Dealer are usually have great customer comfort attitude. It has very less re-sale value.

Now the Innova G-4. When I drove the Innova, here are my thoughts. Driver seat was just too comfort and second row of seat comfort is like sitting on sofa. Interiors are just above the other two. Talk about the power is 100 BHP, which is almost same as Scorpio. Torque is in-line with Scorpio. Engine is much smoother. Suspension is above the two. You really do not feel the punch on bottom even if drive on potholes. Talk about the brand , which is global Toyota. Though I am not big fan of brand. But leaves some expectation when you hear these brands. Comfort and space inside, I would say, it is best in its class. Again I am talking about the ample of space available. The plastics used are much better quality than the other two. Two rows AC ensures your last row passenger would not complain to you on hot day and you as driver do not have to have increased blower for last row sake. It is pretty comfortable. Third row space is maximum is this car. Also you can push second row front back. It is there in your Scorpio but it is just two inch push. Now on the other side, looks just not there. But one may compromise on that. You can spend few bucks on accessories to look little better exterior. Now other big thing, everyone talks is length and driving in traffic. My feedback is, for good driver it is really not big. I personally say, you really do not feel length of vehicle when you are on driving seat. In fact turning radius of 5.6mts is quite normal for car of this segment. Parking in cities, I have not tried much but it is really not cumbersome process. Yes, you need to have fell of your vehicle length & breadth. Few suggestions on can go parking sensors (cost Rs 4500), which are helpful. I have not put them. Lastly, engine smoke, Most of you have heard about the Innova giving blacj smoke due un-burnt combustion. Dealer & company agree and say that it was mainly due to fuel adulteration. And now they have changed software coding and other minor changes. From march, 2006, Innova does not have this problem. Now it is up to you to decide, what you would like to do. But I feel if you stick on one petrol pump and normal diesel, you should not face this problem. I have talked to highest level of company & Dealer about this issue; they claim that the issue is resolved. Fuel consumption is about 11 KM/Lt in city.

If you have any more information required, then I would help if I know. I would love give feedback once come back from long drive.

Thanks
