I have a Toyota Innova G2 for the last two months. It is a terrific ride. Can smoothly ride over the Indian potholed roles quite smoothly. The trim quality is pretty good and the interior is very roomy. You get used to the super sized space of a Innova pretty soon and become loathe to travelling in the mid segment / premium segment sedans. I found the cost - feature comparision most appealing for the G2 model. I wasn't keen on the company fitted casette player which comes in the G3 / V models and was willing to let go of the dual row AC functionality (though I thought long about this -- so far I have not been disappointed with the front single row AC). The key difference between G1 and G2 model is that the second row is adjustable. The third row is in most cases rarely used and hence it is a good idea to have maximum possible leg room for the second row -- which is possible in models G2 and above. I preferred the Diesel model -- it is quite silent apart from the cold clatter of the diesel engine. It usually gives me a mileage of 11.5 Km/ hr. One reason I chose diesel is the lower fuel price and the assured resale value. You do not need the zip of the petrol engine (more powerful than the diesel engine) on the Indian roads. Innova is a treat tp your back in a long drive -- you don't feel much strain at all. The seats are quite comfy. Some other power packed features of G2 that I like are adjustable steering, arm rests for both arms, Central Locking -- doors / windows, headlight beam height adjuster, adequate cup holder space for all rows, manageable turn radius (similar to Qualis)

Innova is longer than what the driver usually estimates. One has to be very careful while parking in crampy spaces. The car body is surrounded by crumple zones for passenger safety -- the problem is for even the slightest of bump the body would slightly crunch -- I guest you have to give some to get some. There is difficulty in safely estimating the end of the bonnet as well do to the contour -- this is an advantage though as mostly you would stop well short of the visble obhect in the front. For a vehichle of this size it is important to have a clear view of the rear -- unfortunately there are not many good rear combi mirror accessories. The ones which get glued (Silicon not Vacuum press) do not stick to the rear windscreen easily due to the curve on the rear windscreen glass. Need a rear view combi mirror which could be attached to the spoiler or the top of the hatch back. It is advisable to install the rear gear alarm -- if you can't see much hope that others would at least hear!!
