I actually envy the producer of this movie .. he definitely got more than what he had bargained for - I am talking about the pieces of extreme ‘overacting’ by simbhu and the villain in the movie.

The story is the usual one. There’s this tough kid who talks very little and gives you weird glances ( to make him look deranged). And when this poor little child labourer discovers that hitting someone can be very profitable, he runs away from the hotel where he works. He then grows into Thotti Jaya (simbhu) a conman and right hand for the ‘Don of Chennai‘ Seena thaana – another funny name.

BTW the director must have had an Italian connection as the movie is spelt ‘Totti’ jaya, its pity these guys who believe numerology can make their movie a hit don’t know that there are other factor that can do the trick like … say story, screenplay etc. :D

So Totti Jaya rescues a tamil girl from Kolkatta pimps and escorts her, all the way to her house in Kanyakumari in a gruelling train journey. The girl ( Brinda – Gopika) is obviously impressed (as Totti Jaya pays for her ticket and snacks and bangles etc. etc. ;-))

And they fall in love.

The movie takes a very much expected turn when Totti jaya discovers that Brinda is the daughter of one of the wives of Seena thaana. So here starts the 'you run and chase i'll chase' sequence where our hero Totti eventually kills ‘Seena Thaana’.

A big PostScript.

  • I should admit that the screenplay is not very bad after all.

  • It is after a long time that I see ‘Dappanguthu’ songs that impress you the first time you hear them.

The songs ‘sambala sambalaley’ and ‘vaadi singaari’ are those vibrant ‘Dapp’s (disclaimer: don’t hold me responsible if you find them obscene).

As we were leaving the theatre I heard ‘someone’ say ‘Linda dance kaaga innoru vaati paarkalam..’ ..was that me ?! ;-)

  • When will directors get rid of this formula ‘One intro song for the hero, one for the heroine , and one duet for both of them when they get into the love lane’ ;-)

  • Watch out for the scene where ‘Seena Thaana’ talks angrily to Simbhu over the telephone – it’s dam funny.

  • There are chances that you may become deaf from the ‘Yeii! Yeii ! (courtesy: lollu sabha) ’ sounds in the movie …
