I was quite surprised to see such negative reviews about this product and therefore thought I would share my views as well.
I purchased Satellite L640 X4310 almost a year ago and I cannot be more happy with my purchase. I have always been a Toshiba fan for various reasons:
1: In the last 4.5 years of laptop usage, I have never encountered any trouble with either of my Toshiba laptops. The extra money I shelled out for additional warranties just went down the drain!
2: Excellent battery life, easily lasts for 3 hrs at a stretch.
3: One great thing about Toshiba laptops is that the device never gets heated up even after continuous usage, unlike a Sony Vaio which starts boiling in 5-10 mins(Vaio is by far the worst model I have ever used)
4: L640 X4310 is reasonably light weight, easy to carry around.
I cannot comment on service and support, coz I have never had the opportunity to use any! That is the kind of robustness the product offers.
Only issue, there is no volume button anywhere on the device, which makes it a bit cumbersome to operate on screen with the mouse.
I would strongly recommend any Toshiba laptop.
