This is my fourth Toshiba drive of this size over the past four years. I've ridden the oldest one hard and it is still going well and the other two have not given me any issues. I like the newest one here because it is a bit thinner plus it has the usb3.

When I got it I realized that I was going to have to reformat it in order to use it to clone my Mac for an upgrade. Using usb2 I reformatted to the Mac format and also did a full disk scan which I think took over 10 hours. The drive came up clean and also didn't run hot at all. Normally, I don't reformat and files from both Mac and Windows machines read and write just fine on these drives. The reformat was just because I needed to clone my drive as a backup. A five hour backup to the drive went well also.

The drive, and Toshiba's website confirms, that this drives works with usb 2 and usb 3 controllers. On usb 3 is works like a champ, comes right up and never gives any problems. With usb 2 controllers, however, that is not the case. Sometimes it will work fine, other times you have to trick it by removing the usb device in device manager and let windows re-find it and reinstall it and then it will generally work though you may have to do this more than once. Once the drive likes the usb 2 device it will continue to do so, which is good.
