Ten best I have seen so far
Oct 06, 2006 08:41 PM 4483 Views

Heres the top 10 movies I have ever seen. Since the number is 10 its a tough ask and I am listing 10 movies that I thoroughly enjoyed watching. There might be other movies but these are the ones that are on the top of the stack. The order of the listing doesn't indicate the ranking :-)

*1. The Godfather

*Had to be this. Most of the people who have seen this movie will agree what a wonderful movie it really is. Most "Hollywood" directors will agree that it is a corner stone in movie industry. Copolla's portrayal of  "Corleone" is awesome. And then there is Marlyn Brando with his vintage Godfather looks. This is truly one of the best movies you will ever get to see.

*2. Nayagan

*What happens when 2 great minds come together. "Nayagan" is an example of that. A very powerful and well directed movie that Manirathnam and Kamal will agree as their best ever. The movie was widely accepted by the audience and they knew they had a gem. Kamal and Mani have repeatedly insisted that they cant take a movie like this simply because of the fear that it might not come out well.

*3. Anbe Sivam

*This one is for hard core Kamal fans. The movie is an emotional saga which conveys the message that "Love is God" and "God is Love". The way Kamal portrays the role of a person affected by a major accident is amazing. I was really surprised that he didn't receive the national award for this one.

*4. Guna

*Yet another Kamal movie that many people may not appreciate. For me this is the best role that Kamal has ever acted in. The kind of passion and innocence that Kamal enacts is truly unexplainable. You gotta watch this to understand it. And more importantly watch this more than once to really understand the crux of the movie.

*5. A Beautiful Mind

*Great movie that will be edged on your hearts for ever. Great acting by Russell Crowe. One can safely say that he lived the character of John Nash well and truly.  At the end of this movie you will really feel warm and happy that you have watched a real gem.

6. Godfather - II

Copolla's out of the box direction is the highlight of the movie. The way the 2 stories are portrayed in paralled is truly great. Like the first part the movie is all about power and family. Great acting by Robert De Nero and Al Pacino as usual. The dialogue delivery is something every actor can learn from these two.

*7. The Matrix

*One of the best science fiction movies ever. The idea of the movie is really cool. The stunts and graphics are really mind blowing. The dialogues are precise and excellent. Who could forget the analogy between Virus and human beings.

*8. Manichitram Thazhu

*This is one of very few Malayalam movies that I have seen and its certainly an excellent one. Though the movie was remade in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil this ones miles ahead of them. The movie is a revolution in the sense that the hero of the movie makes an intro almost just before the interval!!!

*9. Dil Chahta Hai

Got to give to this one. Cool dude movie. The first half of the movie is a treat to a watch and this is a movie that can be watched n number of times without getting bored.

*10. Mouna Ragam

This one is a revolutionary movie. Truly one of the rare movies that talks about difficulties of arranged marriage. Absolutely gorgeous screenplay and hats off to Manirathnam. This one will be a hit if re-released even now. Perhaps people like Karan Johar should go and watch this one before talking about married life.
