Tom Yum Goong 2:: This action-packed high octane sequel of Tom Yum Goong takes off from where its prequel ended. Despite a non-linear narrative, it's a fairly simple plot where the hero Tony Jaa(Kham) is on a quest to find his beloved elephant Khon who has been stolen by anti-social elements on an assassination mission.
From start to end, TYG2 is truly an edge-of-the-seat entertainer that successfully encapsulates a rather poignant tale of undying love between a man and his animal amidst extremely stylized stunts that will not let you bat an eyelid - except when things come flying into your eyes because this is a rollicking 3D experience(you might just duck in terror).
The bike chase and the action sequence on the terrace in the first half is most engrossing followed by equally gripping scenes when Kham confronts his deadliest nemesis with rippling muscles - Marrese Crump(as No.2).
In the second half toward the end, the action threatens to go a little overboard, but a thoughtfully orchestrated climax balances it out beautifully.
Tony Jaa looks every bit as vulnerable for the part that he does full justice to, putting his life on the line as he effortlessly performs death defying stunts.
If you thought'Dhoom 3' had action then you need to watch TYG2 to recalibrate your sense of the genre.
A total paisa vasool for entertainment and action hungry, catch this wild chip off the block while'the elephant is in the room.' Oops I mean in a theater near you.;)
