How often do you find such movies made and presented with such sensitivity? Not often. Not in Bollywood, certainly. I had already made up my mind to watch this movie no matter what the Bollywood reviewers say. I knew it wouldn't garner the best of reviews because of the obvious bias in our media. Anyway, back to review.
The movie is awesome!
It delivers the message with the right balance of clarity in message, moments of humor and emotions, and expressing the concerns in as appropriate/relevant way as possible. This topic is not easy to package and deliver as it is something that majority wouldn't find comfy to discuss in public. But, here it is and the movie does so effortlessly - that's the power of good cinema and right cast. Who else would have played better than Akki who has been recently playing characters leading a social cause.
I am sure that if watched by masses, it will make a difference to the lives of women who are most affected by this practice and old custom. As an afterthought, I felt the movie could've been better without 1 or 2 songs though the songs played their part in balancing the movie.
Must watch!
