We eat waffles for breakfast and a light dinner. The best waffle maker I have found is the Toastmaster Waffle Baker.

It makes a round waffle, and not a square one. My waffle maker is white. There are four rubber feet at the bottle. This is very important so it won't slip.

It has a short cord, so you must put it close to a plug. It also has a plastic, (cool handle), so you won't burn yourself, if you touch it.

Seasoning

The first thing I do when I take it out of the box, is to open the grille, and rub it with oil. Then I turn it on until it shows that a waffle is done, (even though there is no batter in it). This is called seasoning. The grille must never be washed with soap and water.

I wipe the grille of with a damp cloth, and put it away until I am going to use it.

Making Waffles

I use a ready made batter, made by Aunt Jemima. You can use any pre-mixed powder, or make your own batter.

I turn on the maker and when the indicator light turns red, I know the grille is hot enough to make the first waffle.

I pour one cup of the batter, and close the top. When the indicator light turns red, the waffle is ready to serve.

I use a rubber spatula on the edge, and move the waffle onto a plate.

Just before I serve the first person, I put some more batter into the pan.

Serving the Waffle

I put a pat of butter, or margarine in the centre of the waffle. I let the person who is going to eat it decide on the syrup.

In Canada we have real maple syrup, and that is the best. I also have apricot, blueberry and saskatoon berry syrups and honey on the table, as well.

Cleaning Up

I let the waffle iron cool down and I use the soft spatula to remove any batter that has spilled on the grille. This is easy because it has become hard.

I remove the grille, (it has a software coating), and wipe it with a wet cloth, and let it dry.

The grille is easy to remove. Then I use a cloth with warm water to wash down the rest of the maker, (be careful not to get any into the wires).

My Conclusion

I like the Toastmaster Waffle Baker. I bought it for $30.00, (on sale). If you don't have a waffle iron, I hope you'll look at this one.
