Story:

Hi,

This book 'To kill a mocking bird' was suggested to me by a friend as one of a very good book.

Being curious about reading books I started up with this book. Initially the book is very slow.

The story is based in 1930s of USA in a town called Maycomb. The story revolves around the perceptions prevailing in the society at that point of time about the racism of whites against blacks or negroes.

The story starts by describing the peculiar characters one sees in a society and how the children react to various situations around them.

We can see the whole world from the eyes of Jem Finch and Scout Finch. Jem and Scout are brother and sister. They don’t have a mother and their dad is the gentleman called Mr. Atticus Finch. Atticus is a lawyer by profession.

It also comes up with a side story of Arthur radley a character called as boo radley by kids in the story. Scout always does not understand the decisions taken by Atticus within the whole story, as she is not aware of the world around her.

The story from being a childhood fun and confusion story moves to a story of racial discrimination in which a white lady sues a black peasant guy for raping her. Atticus being a lawyer and a true person by heart takes the side of black peasant guy and then all of the people in the town go against him and his family for supporting negroes.

But in the end the truth prevails and negro guy wins the case against white young lady who had done sex due to her sexual desires rather than being raped by a black guy.

Though story is quite common the best part is the integrity & understanding of Atticus and narration by kids on the overall environment in Maycomb town in the beginning of the book. Atticus's characterization is also too cool.

The whole thing about racism , issues raised about the perception of the people at that time and fight for truth and justice is very good.

After reading this book I didn’t feel like wow what a book. So as per my suggestion its not that great of a book as suggested by most of the people. I also checked up people's review on MS and all seem to like this book a lot.

Its all personal opinion so all those who liked it very much its your pick.

May be its not my kind of book.

Enjoy
