Don't let the title of this review happen to you!

Using a pressure cooker is easy, once you learn the correct way to do it. Foods come out tender and juicy and all the flavor is still there!

Here are some helpful tips of use:

Always start by reading all the instructions carefully and follow all the directions of use. You can't take any shortcuts with this appliance.

Check the vent to make sure it is not clogged in any way. The vent is used to allow excess pressure to escape so the cooker does not explode. Make sure it is not only not clogged, but that it also moves freely while cooking.

Never over fill the cooker with cooking liquid. It will cause the liquid to boil out of the steam vent and could cause burns. But always remember to add liquid. You can burn the food and ruin the cooker by adding no liquid.

Do not attempt to fry any foods in a pressure cooker!

Make sure your seals are always in good condition. Dried or cracked seals will prevent the correct pressure from building in the cooker and it can also cause splatters that will surely burn.

When adding additional items for cooking (for example, after meats have cooked 3/4 of the way, you add veggies) always take the cooker off the heat and allow it to completely cool before even attempting to open to add the items. If you attempt to open the cooker, it can and will explode! (Although the newer cookers have a safeguard which doesn't allow you to open it until all pressure is released.)

You can hasten the cooling off time by running the cooker under cold water until it is completely cooled if you are in a hurry or if a recipe calls for ''cool at once.''

Almost all of your standard recipes can be altered for use in a pressure cooker. Getting a special recipe book is a very good idea. It will give you the cooking times for most foods and some very unique recipes that you never thought you'd be able to make. (Beautiful steamed custard desserts are a snap! And steamed breads are yummy!)

Some pressure cookers even come with a stainless steel basket or pan you can place inside to cook more than one food at a time.

Just remember to always use extreme caution. Cooking with ''pressure'' can be dangerous. NEVER let a child use it!

Last, but not least...........

Always clean your cooker thoroughly after each use. Keep it clean and dry and it will last for many years.

Happy Eating !
