Pulsar Twins DTS-i VS Avenger DTS-i

Firstly you may think that comparing two bikes of the same company is foolishness. But in my point of view this comparision is truly wise. Anyway this review is written by me on the request of respectable Himanshu one of my friends in mouthshut. He asked me to write upon Pulsar 150 VS Pulsar 180 VS Avenger. But in my views I didn’t find much difference in that two pulsar twins. The only difference between them is the Black styling which is available in only 180 pulsar. So I thought of neglecting that. Many of the people including me founded that 180 and 150 pulsar have the same pick up. Hence pulsar 180 should be bought only for Name and fame and styling. So coming to the point. Pulsar 180 and Avenger have the same DTS-I Engine. Same speed and every thing else. So find the differences I had to go deeply in these two bikes. You might have read my review on HH Splendor VS Ct-100. The factors considered in that review have been also considered here.

They are Styling, Performance, Comfort and Mileage. I probably think that these are the primary things one should have before buying a bike. Now lets go to the point.

The Styling of these bikes:

Pulsar Twins:

I know, you know and all the people know that pulsar is one of the most stylish bikes seen around. The alloy wheels introduced in the middle add much attraction to it that every one falls for it. This bike is surely a students bike. No need of modeling this bike. We can simply say that it is a Remodeled bike in the beginning it self. The tank is one of the best part of it. I can say that the tank of this bike is HUGE. I love that part in this bike. The fonts with which PULSAR is written on the tank are excellent. The big domb and small tail lamp add enough beauty to this bike that it looks irresistible. The broad wheels give a good impression. The ordinary 150 is much better than 180. Man that new black styling introduced in 180 is worse. Never ever think of a 180. I had also a 180 which had black styling. Being fed of it I sold it and bought a RX-100. The short handle gives a sporty look. The finishing of this bike is also good. The alloy wheels are brilliant. Stickering is also good. So go for any one 180 or 150 DTS-i. There are four colors in this bike. They are black, blue, red and military green. Among them red and black are great.

Avenger:

It Very less seen on road. It is famously known as the new Eliminator. Yes its true. It is a modified version of the old classic eliminator. Same Power, same mileage and same accerlaration as that of pulsar 180 DTS-i. The looks of this bike are also superb. It is a low bike. So there is some problem for height people. The glass in front of the bike is good. Looks truly like a urban cruiser. There is only some sickering on the bike. The seat design of this bike is good. The front suspension is very long and is good to see. This bikes makes a lot of heads turn. There are some colors in this bike like red, blue and black. Among them the black color is good and decent. It gives a pakka cruiser look.

Performance of these bikes:

Pulsar Twins:

The pulsar twins have a 150 and 180 cc engine respectively. The gear box has five gears. The gear shift of this bike is not that smooth that of other bikes in the market. Many of the customers have been complaining of bad gear box on highways. So the Bajaj company should rectify this mistake. This bike is too heavy. Probably the weightiest in its segment. So that means more stability. The tyres are broad. That menas good road grip. Some people state that the designing of the tyres of pulsar is not good and is dangerous. But it is completely wrong. I found no defect in the tyres. The engine is DTS-i. It has button start. But it fails in some months from the date of purchasing. The ride of this bike is smooth. Suspension is normal. Not SNS suspension. The disk brakes are good.

Avenger:

The Avenger has the Pulsar 180 cc engine. The suspension is long and is comfortable. The front wheel base is too big the rear very small. As it is like that it gives a look of a cruiser. The disk brakes are good and are big enough to stop this dragon before time. The tyre behind is broad enough that it delivers good road grip. This is also a heavy bike. So it is probably stable.

This bike also has a DTS-i engine. Button start is also available. The gear shift of this bike is smooth. No complaints about the gear box in this bike. The Bajaj company should have introduced a engine having more than 200 cc in this bike to make it more interesting. But it hadn’t. So this is the performance of these two bikes.

Comfort of these bikes:

Pulsar twins:

Hey all of you know that Pulsar is not certainly meant for comfort. The angle of seating and legs placement is very acute and it not good. It gives a lot of back pain. This bike is not meant for long journeys. Only for city and domestic puposes. The suspension of this bike is good. The suspension is not SNS. However the suspension is adjustable. The short handle is very tough and heavy to ride. The seat is also not that broad that it seats a stout person comfortably. The pillon drivers have to suffer a lot by back problems.

Avenger:

I can say that it is one of the comfortable bikes seen around. The seating arrangement is good. The angle between seating and leg placement is obtuse and is correct. The long leg keeping pad is great. The handle is big and is comfortable to ride. The pillon driver here has no need of suffering. He can just lay back and enjoy the ride. The seat of this bike is v.e.r.y broad. If you sit on it you get a feeling of that you are sitting inside a car. The suspension is long and is good. There are no problems of the suspension of this bike.

And…… Mileage:

Pulsar twins:

Because of its weight and extraordinary modification the pulsar has not been delivering much mileage. The average mileage of this bike in normal city riding condition has found to be 40-45. On the high way it was found to be 50-55 kms per liter. The reasons for less mileage of this bike are the big tyre behind the bike and its enormous weight.

Avenger:

This bike is not a mileage giving bike. The mileage of this bike was found to be 40 kms per liter in normal city riding conditions. On the high way 45 kms per liter. So if one buys one of these bikes frequent visits to the petrol binks are needed. But it is a very good mileage for the cruisers.

Closing Bell:

So these above bikes must be bought for styling and performance but not for comfort and mileage.

Thanks for reading my review. Hope you found it interesting.
