Spring Cleaning - Fresh'n up your wardrobe!

All of us have plenty of clothes. Then why do we always ask ourselves "What the hell do I wear to this party?".? The main reason for this is 2/3 of our clothes are useless. They are either old, out of fashion, or the wrong colour!

The first tip of a Wardrobe Overhaul is to THROW OUT WHAT YOU DO NOT NEED. You will feel bad initially and will have many pangs of "I may wear that someday".but do not give up. Ask yourself this - "Will I wear it today?" If the answer is "NO" - Throw it out.

Step 1: Take ALL your clothes out and dump it on the bed/floor.

Step 2: Start picking up each dress, saree, trouser, shirt etc and try to remember when you wore it within the last year. If you can not remember, keep it to your left.

If you can, keep it to your Right.

Step 3: Once the piles are ready, scan through your Left pile and select MAX 2% of garments which has sentimental value.(You can not throw away your wedding sarre, can you?)

Step 4: Make exceptions to the above Step 3, for the following articles:

a. Wedding Clothes: Do not throw any of them out. But do re pack it with naphthalene balls etc in air tight clothes bags.

b. Lingerie: Throw out all lingerie over 1 year old - even if you wear it regularly. Ladies, trust me, we men do not like it when you wear old stuff! Buy some racy new stuff!

c. Jeans/Ties: Do not throw out old ties. The older the Jeans, the better it is!

Step 5: Count how many items you are disposing. Decide what you will do with the clothes that you have decided to give away / throw away. One good option is to give it to some charity organization. The other is to offer them the less privileged who live nearby.

Step 6: Now, the reward for all your troubles. Buy the exact half of the articles that you disposed according to the ratio that you disposed. e.g: If you disposed 4 shirts and 2 trousers, buy 2 shirts and 1 trouser of the latest fashion.

Step 7: Finally the clothes(new+old) need to be organized properly categorised neatly into'Formal Wear', 'Daily Wear', 'Lingerie/Under garments', 'Party Wear' etc and re packed. While packing remember to pack the'daily wear' at the front of your closet. Wash all the clothes that seem to need a wash.

You are done! Congrats!
