Friends,

you have already gone through my review'Me happy, how about you?' on Feng Shui. If you haven't yet then I would like you to drop there after reading this. To my surprise non-members of MS are more to read it. I believed Feng Shui mainly as it's based on logic and health science more. I know, it's more or less like Vastu-Shastra science. However, cleaning home, or clearing up old items at home doesn't need any science to tell us. Am I right?

And friends, just Diwali festival is over and you might have decorated home, may be with new paints, with electrical bulbs, fresh flowers, artificial flowers/ waterfall etc. But did you get enough time during your Diwali plans to clear the things thoroughly? Answer may not be necessarily'Yes' from all of you. So, thought to write it now instead of bothering you before festivals. Better late than never. I am covering not only clothes wardrobe but all cupboards under this topic as I could not find specific category.

Clearing up old things can be a starting point whenever we decide renovate or re-arrange our home. Though just clearing old unused items won't give new look to home, it gives great satisfaction for sure.

*Few tips -

-*

1) Locate neglected area of home,

2) Put out and keep in separate box/bag items unused

for more than past 5 yrs.or so,

3)Try to dispose off above items category-wise e.g. metal, plastic tins/ bottles,

footwear, clothes, wooden, bamboo, broken earthen pots.

In India, we don't have garage sell concept, however, we can sell metal items to some specific shops(copper, brass, steel are given amounts in descending order) Broken steel utensils are given one third price of unbroken old utensils. Wooden items too are taken by specific shops in exchange of new purchase or if you don't want to exchange at same shop, there are dealers who purchase it for meager amount or you may just donate to some needy.

For clothes, you may become nostalgic after not using for sometime and feel like using them again. Well, sort them as woolen, cotton, synthetic, wash them and go ahead. If at all you don't feel that they are anyway useful then  give them to daba- batliwalli(old clothes purchasers who wander door to door) to exchange some glass item/new steel item etc.Or just give them to your servant who will be more than happy to get them. I generally don't like to call daba-batliwalli as I am unable to bargain much and dont like to break my head on her. So, my kamwali bai(servant)gets benefit of it and I can see her happiness while working at home too.

So, to feel freshness in the air, learn to give away old items to clear up your lovely home and get more space for new fresh things. I am doing it even after Diwali, as I could not get enough time during festival days as was busy with family, relatives visits etc.

Tell me what's your decision?
