GOODYEAR ASSURANCE TIRES-GOOD ONE
Nov 25, 2009 12:49 AM 4096 Views

Hi all,

I recently fitted my Skoda Octavia with Goodyear assurance comfortread tires.

This is my review of the tires after running the vehicle for about 500kms.

My earlier tires were the company fitted goodyear eagle tires(195, R15), which lasted for a good 29k kms.

But there used to be lots of road noise,  rough ride with all road irregularities filtering through the tires and the grip was not very good.  I thought its the fault of the vehicle and was always cursing Skoda company in my mind!.

But now, after fitting with Goodyear assurance(205, R15), all these problems have been solved!. Now there is almost no road noise in the cabin, ride is very smooth with hardly any ‘bumps/thuds’ and grip/handling is fantastic. Now my back door handle does not rattle!.

Also the ground clearance of the vehicle has increased slightly. The look of the vehicle has also improved due to wider tires.

Though, I must say the vehicle is not as agile as it was with narrow rubber and also I suspect mileage has decreased slightly(not yet confirmed- will clarify soon).

But better handling gives you the confidence to maintain higher speeds for longer times and braking is excellent- so actually your speed increases.

Goodyear assurance is a high-tech tire with lots of advanced technologies to make is strong, safe and long lasting(see goodyear website for details). According to the company the tires should last at least 50-60k kms, which is almost double that of ordinary tires. Of course life of tires also depends on the road conditions and our driving patterns. In other countries Assurance has other variants like ‘triple Tread’ & ‘fuelmax’.  But the comfort tread tire available in India is just fine for Indian conditions. You get the best of both worlds- smooth ride on our worst(or non-existing) roads and good handling for the occasional good national highways/expressways. Also tires should last-making them value for money.

I think, any body, who is interested in combining smooth ride and  good handling should opt for Goodyear Assurance tires. They are worth the money.

Only issue is we have to wait to get the report on ‘Life’ of the tire!.
