Ethically unethical

Nothing can confront media’s position as the fourth pillar of democracy.

It enjoys the god-like power of destroying or forming things it can shape up the perspective of the society. Like any other media Indian media usually has a tendency to present a story with a particular point of view .which contradicts its position as a fair instrument of the social order. Many times media persons can’t keep their personal prejudice, emotion, interpretation & other subjective factors out of the news here the question of ethics arise. This may delude the lay man. Again notion of ethics is very relative as what is morally adequate to a person may not be the same for the others .as ethics revolve around  an  action and consequences  of that action. Now the big question is our media ethical?

Media ethics includes objectivity, reliability and accuracy.

.Don‘t you think media today is diverted from its main goal. As often our media prefers to sensationalize news to boost its TRP .the cut throat competition in Indian media market for more advertising, more attention and consequently more money has led to a lack of authenticity in the news section .Media’s first and foremost function is to keep people updated  about current issues. But what should come under that issue is itself a debatable issue. As mass media is now paying more attention to quick flicks, fashion, glamour, celebrities, the events like Astrologers predictions about Aishwarya's mangalic kundli is being hyped like news of national importance. Columns after columns, slots after slots are wasted on discussing whether or not Abhishek Bacchan should get hitched with Aishwarya Rai.

At present scenario mass media is very much a business which is valued by the advertisers. So as any other business this is too very much normal that advertisers determine and control the factual part or treatment of these news. At present Media is a mad race. Now the million dollar question is, to sustain in this Cat- race how far  media should go? Recently the stings operations done by media have raised a widespread debate that these attempts are created in view of the public interest or sheer gimmick? They are invading privacy of others or they are just doing their duty as a watch dog? As the out come of this kind of operation cannot be ignored even by its worst critic but yet it can be used against any one like a devastating weapon.

Media is powerful and a unique conception but like any other good things over play of this too leads to a moral and ethical collapsing
