Induction Cooker - No more Gas Trouble.
Oct 01, 2008 04:51 PM 17523 Views

I Recently bought a Pigeon Brand Induction cooker(with display) for 2.5k. I knew the Pros & Cons before I bought(thanks to my friend Google!:).  I stay in Bangalore & here it is very difficult to get a Gas connection. Private gas agencies are charging 2.5 k initial charges & 1k for filling & it is not dependable as they themselves run out of cylinders.! & then bidding happens for getting filled cylinders.! .

So I decided to go for Induction cooker & bought it from a steel vendor in BSK(almost everywhere u can get nowadays).  A free steel vessel with a glass lid came free.! which I used for immediate testing cooker in home. Please go through below points before u buy one

Advantages

  1. Very Fast cooking( I cooked rice in 8L cooker in 15 mins)

  2. No smoke, heat  & ultra safe for older people, children

  3. U can control temparature so all kinds of frying, boling can be done.(my model has presets)

  4. U can make dosas, toast bread, omlete from usual iron tawa.

  5. very less electricity consumption(my model shows exact Kw/hr! also)

  6. 100% safe for use & it will not heat if u dont keep anything on top!(auto power off)

  7. U can set timers also after which it will stop heating

  8. very useful for older people for driniking boiled water . It will boil 1L in 2 mins.!. Even everybody in family can drink boiled water frequently as u dont have to wait too much.

Disadvantages

  1. Only flat bottomed iron/ stainless steel works in this cooker(But now in all shops u can get flat bottomed steel vessels)

*2. Aluminium cooker, non stick, copper bottom will not work

  1. *Ofcourse you are dependent on Current for cooking( so I have a 5kg small gas as back up)

  2. U will end up buying vessels for this .( I had to buy a stainless steel cooker)

Finally after using it for 1 month I am completely satisfied with this cooker & Suggest all of you can buy. Believe me u will be happy after you use & cook.    While buying vessels for this cooker just ask the shopkeeper whether it will work on induction cooker . Almost everybody knows about this now.

Advise: Local shops have limited models( 2.3 k - 3.5 k) . If u want some latest ones u can order from eBay also

Happy Cooking .!
