Dont get fooled by the title...Iam still very much in college...Sitting in my own single room, surfing from my own computer, hoping somebody will read this.
Lets move a step back and that straight first. By Logic, you would have to choose the college before you start thinking abt the hostel. If u are already stuck with some college, skip to the next paragraph...Rest read this...Your sole aim right now to should be to maaro a proper fight for getting into a good college. It takes a lot of dedication, some brains, lots of murga work and thoda-babut luck...Cut aside those televisions and the surfing for a little while, and u'll do fine...
Ready To Pack ?
Each college, ok forget college...Every Hostel...No, lets be even more specific....Every Flank will have a moron who borrows your toothpaste,deo,bedsheets and hogs your comp...PLEASE TRY NOT TO BE THAT ! Meet somebody who is NOT Like that and make a list of ALL THE things you need to make your life fruitful. I wont even give a sample one, coz it'll be really Boring and Stupid....
College Tit-Bits
Sitting in some remote corner of Bengal, I can never tell the culture of your college. That I think would be point No 1. Each college will have its own little lingos, its hangout places, its own style of ''ragging'' ( I think its safe to use that word here...Hopefully my Dean wont read this !). Learn to live with it, enjoy it and become a part of it. When your talks become incomprehensible for your parents, you know you have succeeded...
Studies !
Iam sure this could have been placed lower in the list. But ideally you have come to learn stuff, I can write something about it. You'll realize within a semester, that regular padhai is simply NOT POSSIBLE. No matter what your parents, or the time-management guru of your neighbourhood tells you, things are going to be tough. Figure it out for yourself. The million Cultural and Sports events will swoop in, and before you know it, you'll be sitting at 2am in the night, rehearsing lines. Find a tiny slot of time, where you can study teeny-weeny bits of the whole chunk, and pray that things will turn out fine.

Having been gifted with a uncommentable set of 18 girls for the 585 guys of my batch, I'd consider myself to be one of the unfortunate beings on the earth. Having lived in Dilli on a large set of ''College Waale Movies'', the ratio has come as a cultural shock to me...Iam praying that YOU dont end up like me...If u want college bandi advise, try some other place....

When you are about halfway thru college, figure out what you want to do in life. Frankly, the stream you choose usually has NOTHING to do with your future...With the keywords like CAT, GRE, BPO floating around, you are sure to get confused...Dont Worry, Iam in the same position right now...But make a proper decision, and stick with it....
Aur main kya kahoon ? Have a good life wherever you go...
p.s : Have good pali ( Friendship ) with your roommate...You'll need it.
