Never use a shopping cart.
Aug 28, 2001 08:49 AM 5621 Views

Being single, I eat many meals at restaurants and bars. I usually stop at a restaurant for breakfast on my way to work. For lunch I go to a restaurant or carry out back ot work. On long days at work, if I don't feel like cooking when I get home, I sometimes stop at a bar for a few beers and dinner.

Doing this 6 or 7 days a week gets very tedious, so I look forward to a home cooked meal from time to time. I enjoy cooking for myself and look forward to having 2 or 3 hours so I can take the time needed to prepare a healthy and delicious meal. However, this requires food shopping 2 or 3 times a week.

My rule for shopping is to never use a shopping cart. I always use one of those colorful hand baskets and never purchase more than 10 items.

When the basket starts to get heavy its time to head for the checkout counter. If purchasing 10 items or less I can save a lot of time by going to the express checkout. No long lines and no old ladies pushing their carts into the back of your legs.

Another great time saver is to make a mental shopping list on the drive to the store. Going to a store you know will aid in time management, because you will find thing more easily. I have managed to cut my shopping time to about 10 minutes. Less time shopping means more time cooking and enjoying the home cooked meal.

I hope this helps some of you single people out there!
