Preparing for examination is always a tought part of my life.  I hate giving exams just because it involves lot of reading and memorization. Usually preparing for exams depends on the subject ex. Biology, accounting, economics, politics?  Since I do not know any specific subject/area you that you desire advice in, I will give you generic form I follow....

1.  Attend all lectures even if you don't understand the lectures, its always beneficial to attend because eventually when you read for your exam everything will come together and make sense.  Happens alot in my case...

2.  Take notes helps later in the course.......links back to my first justification.

3.  Don't have to read the text book all the time....as I mentioned, I hate reading textbooks.  I fall asleep before I can finish first page.

4.  When preparing for exam, I like to outline the materials (that were covered in class, so use class notes), bullet main ideas of each (including formulas if any)

5.  Type up the outline...use organization skills, make it legible

6.  Shrink the outline to fit one page, back and front or two max ( the smaller your reading materials look the better you will feel and focused you will be...BUT DO NOT SKIP TO INCLUDE IMPORTANT INFORMATION)....font=size8.  Try to split the page in two columns if the materials exceed 1 page, back and front.

7.  Print the outline.

8.  Highlight the main ideas and color code important points.

By now, you have written, typed, organized, color coded all the information you need to know for the exam...So, guess what half of your preparation is done because by now, believe it or not, you have read the material at least five times.  With this much practise, trust me you have half of memorization/understanding of the material.  Then all you have to do is read it twice a day for two day before exam and I gurantee you should achieve a ''B'' if not an ''A''.

I understand it is time consuming but believe me if I can do it so can you.  Once you get started, time flies by and the process becomes more of a fun learning instead of sitting in front of the book and consoling yourself you are studing while you have been looking out the window for past 40 minutes you have had the book opened.

This formulla works in all my subjects for exams whether it is over 4 chapters, 8 chapters or accummilative finals.  I have scored an ''A'' in all using this method and you know what? shrinking the fonts and fitting 1 or two pages, organization, color coding and spending time will at the end make you want to read and keep you focused and not lazy.

Now, if you do not have a computer to type, hand write it....the process is the same, it takes few more minutes but the result will be same (actually better).

So, Good Luck....try the trick and let me know if it works for you.

Cheers
