48 exams?15 vivas?.1 project

Yet another CET! N this time it?s for engineering. So the grueling task of getting a PCM in 90?s doesn?t stop at this. As if there are not enough formalities n nightmares associated with this prestigious course of Mumbai University. A fresher enters the campus of the engineering college after paying a handsome fees(Thanks to those hikes!) and going through the tedious and frustrating admission procedure hoping to tinker with electronic circuits, programming techniques, monolithic sensors, automobiles, aeroplanes and what not!

But the initial excitement nulls down n fresher no longer remains one. The toiling first semester begins and you never know how time flies summoning its end. The style of studying which was successfully employed till 12 level will no longer suffice. First the assignments and then the journals will keep you busy throughout. Most of the students end up joining coaching classes for the professional course of engineering. (The reason being poor attendance of either students or professors or both.)

Finally PL (Preparation Leave) starts and the actual study begin. The brave hearts who had managed till this stage?switch over to crash course and ultimately crash. Finally the D-day arrives and the student gets the most unexpected sets of questions in his hands. The aftermaths of this lost campaign is that almost 70% of students end up getting a K.T. (In fact there is a college in Konkan (Sindhudurg) which has 0% result.)

It doesn?t stop at this the results that are declared after ages have more surprise. Don?t be shocked if you are marked absent for the examination which you had written in flesh n blood. Revaluation is a kind of joke, to which many students fall pray to. Vivas, mini projects and projects almost churn out all your energy.

The admission procedure is changing every year which leaves the student in dilemma.

Also the fee hikes last year is attracting comparatively less students for engineering.

So in the end what do you get out of engineering apart from a degree? The course has a well laid base but a frail framework. So the practical knowledge gained by it is lacking in terms of recent research.
