I am a bit nervous as this is my first ever attempt to teach anyone how to be a good cook… Someone who knows me well, might die of a shock, just on looking at the topic I selected to write on. Anyways I got to do this act of kindness to all you good people out there.

Punch Line: “Cooking was never likable to me and will never be…”

100% guarantee, these tips will help you to generate interest in being in kitchen and preparing something which will be enough to keep you breathing with minimum time consumption and will make your mom* really happy(*: Dads who cooks regularly, please don’t mind Lolz! Wherever I have written mom, please replace it with Mother-In-Law, sister or hubby;o) whoever is preparing food daily at your place.) Learn the secret of ideal yummy cooking in seven tips. This will help guys too, Just in case you have to manage without your mother, sisters and wife for a few days.”

Statuary warning: Follow these secrets at your own risk.

These tips are meant for … all those who “never” found food preparation interesting. I too was the one who never found cooking interesting, until I found these 7 secrets… now cuisine is just no problem.;o) Couldn’t find a better place to post these secrets:o). I know there will be quite a lot of you “fools”(I mean Hindi version of that word, ‘Flowers’) reading this, wanting to know the secret of cooking from me, even after reading the punch line.

Ideal tips in particular for those girls, whose moms have started pestering them to learn some cooking saying * “Ye padai likhai, job wagera kaam nahi aane wali, thoda kitchen sambhalna sikh” *(All these degrees and jobs wont help, start learning to handle kitchen), * “badi ho rahi hai, kal shadi ho jayegi, kuch banana sikh le” *(tomorrow you will get married, learn to cook something), blah, blah…(I being the Favorite Daughter of my mom, could enjoy the lavish of not entering the kitchen and enjoying until my 2nd sister got married;o), but later me too was forced into this jail, where I was least interested in entering - Kitchen).

These tips are not for… those who have even wee interest in cooking or being in kitchen.

Ok! So you are fed up with those comments from your mom and want to know how to make her keep her “MouthShut”;o)

:o) Tip 1: Start going in the kitchen often, especially when mom is about to start cooking. Ask her, what is cooking? Ask if you can help? Believe me your mom will be really happy to see that you have started to take interest. She will just ask you to wait and observe for a few days. After 2-3 days show your desperation to help her… take the vegetables from her, peal the skin or cut it(you got to learn this), clean or wash rice/dal, arrange salad in the dish. That’s it, just see how this tip works…:o)

Now that you have become a specialist in cutting, cleaning and washing;o), you got to try tip 2 before your mother starts again…

:o) Tip 2:As you know what’s cooking in your kitchen? Don’t miss a chance when mom is taking short cuts, I mean she seems not in much mood to prepare proper meal and she is preparing something like packed noodles, sandwich, salads, bread toast, egg omelet, packed soup, packed vegetables. Here is your chance to impress her, don’t let her be in the kitchen or just let her stand and observe, while you do the cooking. Hey no need to be afraid, all these items just require either boiling or cutting … you will have to take this much risk.:o(

See now that you know these, your mom can leave the family on you for 1 or 2 days and have a small vacation, how happy you can make her.

:o) Tip 3:Start helping mom with preparing dough, plain rice, boiling vegetables/dal, preparing masala paste these are just a few things which just require you to stand and watch while things are getting ready in the cooker or mixer… simple you see but it will consume some time:o)

Nothing can go wrong with these things…

:o) Tip 4: I am sure by now you have learned what is kept where in your kitchen. So start helping your mom with arranging everything what is required for cooking(believe me searching for knife or tomatoes sometimes gets on nerves, when you don’t find them at the place you last kept them, Lolz!), also when mom is putting some ingredients like salt, chilly, water, etc in whatever she is preparing, you take the initiative and put them yourself. Believe me this will do magic;o)

With this, you will get a brief idea on what is to be put next while preparing something in kitchen and you will also get a bit practical experience, without much risk as mom will be standing just besides you and guiding.

:o) Tip 5:  finally a day when you got to prepare everything, I mean the entire lunch/dinner alone [caution: you must ignore such a day as much as possible, but still it might just come one day]. Don’t panic, everyone knows you don’t know much; just prepare the way you want to. So even if chapattis are burnt, dal and vegetables are half cooked or more salt and less chilly powder just don’t worry. They got no other choice … and you know what if its going to be just your hubby eating these dishes(what so ever you prepared) then you are the luckiest, he for sure will say ‘wow! What great you cook’;o) Lolz!

So you see you got to enjoy this, experimenting on subject(whoever is going to eat this) at his/her risk;o)… after some few experiments you will definitely be able to prepare something ok ok types… what you are for some reason tied to prepare food daily? Bored of eating the same taste food daily?

:o) Tip 6:  Try something new on weekends/holidays, allu puri, rajma, chole, pav bhaji(some tough Indian dishes) you can take recipe from your mom over the phone and just jump into trying. [Caution: try this if it is only you and your hubby eating] no matter what you prepare you both will love it.

Now you can call yourself an expert cook. But I am sure, every 10-15 days or so you will get bored of the same taste blend food, no problems:o)

:o) Tip 7: Most important tip:Make proper fixed place for keeping menus of all the near by restaurants, dhabas, fast food joints near your residence. So every time you feel tired or don’t want to eat something what you had just yesterday… just take one of the favorite dishes from the menu and order from the restaurant.;o)

It is said ‘Way to mans heart is through his stomach’. So, why take chances ask him to take you to his favorite restaurant often…:o)
