Phir mile sur….good but could have been better.
Mile sur mera tumhara…an epic song that was created around 23 years back almost became a national anthem that time. The strength of the song was its simplicity. Zoom tv came up with the concept of recreating the magic of mile sur, really a nice thought and yes in these 23 years world has became hitech and India too is a part of it, so similarly the new milesur was supposed to be more hitech and forward video but with that touch of Indian elegance in it. Let me tell you it was a good attempt from Zoom. But there were lots of thing and people missing and also there were many song link breaks.lets have look at what were missing and what could have made the video better. Well who am I to judge it. But still I feel following points should have been done to the video-phir mile sure.
• Firstly the video should have contained mixed blend of legends and new succesors in it. Where were….
o Sports: sachin tendulkar, rahul dravid, sourav ganguly, anil kumble, mahesh bhupati, leander peas, gautam gambir, zaher khan.
o Politics: APJ abdul kalam, rahul gandhi.
o Bollywood: hritik roshan, sushmita sen, lata mangeshkar.
o Business: mukesh ambani, azim premji. Curently I remember these many.
• Secondly the songs should have been sung by only professional singers from each fi, m industry.like sonu nigam, shaan, udit narayan, miling ingale, some singers from tamil, telgu, malyanam, rajasthani, bihari film industry, why did it start with the voice of amitabh bachchan. Personal I didn’t like the way the vocals of the song started.
• More over it was more of bollwood song than the national integrity.i mean that you are singing mile sur mera tumhara.wasnt it suppoe to be shown in groups.for example a group of bollwood legends togethr like.(amitabh, amir, salman, shahrukh)…(madhuri, sridevi, rekha, jaya, juhi) in one frame. then a pair of bollwood successors.( hritik, shahid, ranbir).( kareena, deepika, priyanka). Similarly the group of business tycoons, group of sports personality.it would have been great if sachin, sourav and rahul were seen in same frames…
• About the music…starts good with rehmans music but gets ruined with the voice of amitabh to it. Lots of spead breakers in between the song which breaks the link of the song, the shanakr ehsaan loy track starts awefully bad but then grips pace, the rock version which they end with should have been placed at the end of the song.( only the music not the video). Anushka shankar plays her instrument very well but it would hav ebenn good if she would try and play the mile sur tune.atleast I didn’t hear it.
How would have I shooted the video.
o Firstly I would have made a gripping, modern yet elegant and cultural music for the song.the person who should have made it was only AR Rehman…I just loved the video and audio of the song Jana Gana Mana by rehman . something simliar to that would have been aweosme. Then make professional singers sing it. • Then comes the video.
o I would have started it with a little child singing the original song in his “totali” voice( mile tul mela tumala) the people around that child then just remember the original video in a flashback and then the new mile sur starts with good pace and entusaisum. Then the video moves from common people to celebrities. but no one singular.all of them in some groups.afterall its mile sur mera tumhara.a unity.
o One example I would share is …the line starts “milesur mera tumhara” at this time we see sachin, sourav, kumble and rahul sing it in one frame.then “toh sur bane hamara”…gautam, yuvraj, zaher joins them in same frame.again the line starts as “milesur mera tumhara” would take a closeup of the celebs in one line moving towards right and zoom out slowly.
o Similary it could have been done for rest of them.
o Really didn’t like the end of the song.it didn’t genrate that pride in me as it did in original. According to me I would have takena closeup of rahul gandhi and APJ abdul kalam in one frame singing mile sur mera tumhara…then the last lier reapeated number of time.”toh sur bane hamara”. at this time continuing the same frame both of the nrise their right hand with a feast(mutthi) slowly slowly the camera zooms out and go to the top view. Where we see indian flag made by many perople standing and rasing their feast…and the song ends. That was my view of video. I know I am not that technical about shooting but I think I really know how it should look like; afterall meri zyatar zindagi TV dekhne mein chali gaye ….:)
