CELCABS- avoid in Trivandrum

I had booked an Indigo CELCAB on 12 Jun 11, details as under:-




  • On 13 Jun 11 for journey commencing at 0930 hours.




  • From Trivandrum - Vellayambalam to Trivandrum airport




  • Type of vehicle booked - Indigo






Following are the details of events that occurred:-




  • No SMS was received giving booking details, despite 2 calls to remind CELCABS on 12 Jun, to send the same




  • At about 0840 hours on 13 Jun, CELCABS was reminded to send the vehicle and the person replied that that the booking was confirmed and that the vehicle was on its way




  • Even at this point no SMS was received. Usually the vehicle details are given by SMS about 30 min before the journey time




  • At about 0910 hours another call was given to CELCAB centre asking the status - I was informed that the driver was on his way.




  • I gave a call to the driver, at about 0915 hours. He said the following:-






o He was at Ulloor(about 7 km away)


o He said that he was in heavy traffic


o On being asked, he was not too sure on reaching on time


o He was not willing on giving an estimate on when he could reach(time)


o He didn’t sound either confident or enthusiastic on undertaking the trip- he was quite non-committal about undertaking the trip


o There was no background sound of traffic in his mobile. When asked whether he was in his vehicle and driving, he replied in the affirmative. Given the fact that he had said he was in heavy traffic, the lack of any background traffic noise was surprising - unless Mr Amir was using a noise-cancellation enabled mobile.




  • Given the above, especially the fact that the driver appeared to quite nonchalant and unwilling to commit, I spoke to CELCABS at about 0920-0925 and cancelled the booking due to non-arrival of the cab.




  • Turned out that the decision to cancel was correct - The driver  turned up about 20 min later in an Indica(booked vehicle was Indigo)






o The vehicle was unacceptably LATE for the planned trip to the airport


o The vehicle detailed was was an Indica, whereas an Indigo was asked. The car that arrived would not have been able to carry the luggage


I remember CELCABS excellent service in Bangalore, in its early days. It appears that CELCABS have been only journeying downhill, especially in Trivandrum


The Trivandrum service is UNACCEPTABLE, especially for time-critical journeys.


CELCAB -Please either shut shop here or amend your ways
