CAR AUDIO SETUP for Maruti Swift VDI
Apr 05, 2012 10:00 AM 4042 Views

This review is being written after an year of usage of the product.

Before I start with, I should mention that I own the 2011 APR model of the swift VDI and I am not very sure if the new SWIFT VDI comes with a prebuilt audio(the old VDI doesnot have a music system).

My Configuration

-

1) Pioneer 6050UB(I went for a double din so that I fits without any ugly gap on the dashboard. Also it had interesting features like the 7-band equaliser).

2) Kenwood KAC M645 Amplifier

3) Polk db6501 Component speakers on front door.

4) Polk db691 on the rear shelf.

5) scosche cables.

I went for bills & warranty(did not want grey).it costed me 30K.

I have seen many audio experts here in forums who ask people to believe their ears and choose audio systems but the truth is(with no offence) many people cannot differentiate what is good n bad(it may seem nice there in the garage and may sound unpleasant later on).there surely are nuances in audio reception and only when a person is so used to hearing a lot of music all the while can appreciate good quality sound.

Now regarding the setup I have, I have to admit that it is bright(In a layman sense.bright would mean that the music will be more on the treble side.u hear the high frequencies so crisp).

I have to mention something important here.I use the USB memory stick most times for my music.and when I do that the audio is bright(guess here the pioneer plays the audio file) but whereas when I connect my Itouch to the system(this pioneer is Apple compatible), the sound is pretty laidback and is good for long drives.

Overall

1) Audio clarity is damn good(or bright whatever u call). If u r not a Bass loving person.u will love this. However I get damn good bass too from the db691 at the back. But I think.one should go for the circulat speakers at the back than the ovals to gain a better BASS.

2) The pioneer codecs donot play many files if they are not decompressed properly or if the bit rate is not OK.However when it plays from the ipod no trouble.

3) The components are a class. Some people would advice going for just the components and a sub at the back. But I tell u.If u often travel with the family, the components on the front door are not gonna be sufficent at the back and if u r asked to increase the VOL, that is gonna annoy the driver and the SUB are mostly not preferred by elders in the family. So the Coaxials at the rear solves the prob. Its an opinion.(Not for SUB woofer lovers).

4) The coaxials dont have a cover and should be cleaned by jus tilting it upside down to get rid of the dust.

5) Have been using it for a year now.no degradation in quality of the sound.

Hope that helped.Would be happy to answer queries if u have any, Thanks
