Sunglasses - Rayban or Polaroid
Dec 08, 2009 01:05 AM 13672 Views

I am a fan of sunglasses. You cannot be too careful with what you have only one pair of and what is irreplaceable.

I am a big fan of the Polaroid brand and would declare it the useful sunglass to possess. Style and utility. It has all in bucket loads. I have gone through several pairs. Therein lies a con. Wear and Tear. I am not too confident of the metal work on the rims. At least two of my Polaroids have broken from exactly the same place near the point where the temple end piece is soldered to the frame eye wire. And since Polaroid appears to have one service centre in Mumbai, you might as well through the piece away which is a waste of a good sunglass. Otherwise no worries, you will look cool and see better than the dude wearing Oakleys for much lesser the price.

I have owned two pairs of Raybans aviators. It is an aspiration  of most people to have this very recognizable brand and when I had some cash left over  and prices dropped I was able to fulfill a dream. But then I lost that pair when I left it in an auto in Bangalore. And honest auto drivers are a exception than a rule. So if anybody who spots a auto driver in Bangalore wearing Rayban aviator shades in black trim, give us a shout. Anyway, after I lost the glasses, I couldn't bring myself to admit that I had lost the glasses to family so I bought myself a second pair of the exact same model and even I couldn't tell the difference. Until I lost it again. By this time I was in a different city and not much family around. So I am squinting a while now, saving up for a third pair of the same model. It is my favorite and maybe third time lucky. And it looks good. But the con is that the wire frame tends to distort easily and the lenses seem ready to pop out most times though it didn't once. But in hindsight I had them not too long.  But these are budget glasses and expectations must be the same.

So in ending - Buy the Polaroid and be careful. Buy the Rayban if brand is important and you don't for the utility of the Poloroid. However Rayban does have a polorised range but the selection is smaller and cost high in the clouds. Poloroid it must be.
