I will say don't buy any antivirus. First of all if you are using computer and do not use internet connection the chance of getting affecting by deadly virus is less. And if that happens there built in antivirus protection in Windows 8 and later versions of it.
But when it turns to computers connected to internet you need some kind of protection. I have used many antivirus in free version and also used paid version of kaspersky. But now there are many antivirus programs which can be obtained for free. "360 total security" it is best one I have used. It catches every virus fast and gives all round protection too. And it comes with no cost. Use it to experience it. And if you think they are fake take a look at "Consumer security software providers" from Microsoft, they are on Mircosoft's list so don't worry. And they even warn when there is slight change in the registry.
And if you want to find and secure your device there is software known as "AdwCleaner" who is a superstar in cleaning adware. when my browser was stuck and having pop up ads I used this software. After a scan and cleaning the browser and performance regained. It can uninstall malware & adware that cannot be removed in normal method.
Only buy antivirus if you are person who has got a high and secured job. Then the files and emails should be in safe and should be observed. The transfer payments of amount such persons should be done in safely. At that point buying a antivirus is recommended. And I prefer "Bit defender" for that purpose.
